I mean, he could still turn out to be a good player and worth the money (although I strongly doubt it), but there's a reason you don't usually give a million bucks a year to a 20 year old unless you know they're a true professional. And you probably can't know they're a true professional unless you've seen them first hand at your club. And that's why trading for a 20 year old and giving him a million bucks a year is very risky.

Lets be serious. Boyd will probably end up being a very good forward. At the moment it looks bad, but a long way to go. Still the money they shelled out will have serious repercussions in getting OOC players from other clubs.

There aren't many of us who booed Riewoldt. In fact on our board we were saying we hope no one boos him when we played this year. I was also at the game and saw plenty of dogs fans applauding him on and off the ground. So if you want to group us all together and call us flogs because of a few stupid, idiotic fans then I can do the same and call all saints fans flogs because of you.

Let's say he was eased into a very good side, Geelong were never a champion side in that era. Champion sides win back to back or triple premierships. Hawkins did play 24 games in 2009 ( A Premiership year) in just his 3rd season. He won the B&F and was All Australian in his 6th year. I guess Boyd still has time?
My bet is he won't make it and will be out of the "Kennel" by the end of 2018 or sooner if today is any indication. Boyd is young enough to come good, but i doubt the Dogs will see the benefit and today's revelations indicate an early discipline issue. IMO the Dogs have better options.

I think the main point is your original post implied that Collingwood paid two first rounders for Treloar, when in fact they paid two first rounders for Treloar and pick 28. There's a significant difference between those two statements, and failing to mention that the deal involved a second round pick going to the magpies is blatantly misleading.

As for the point you were originally making, are you really trying to say that Collingwood trading two firsts for Treloar, who is comfortably the second best player on our list now, and a second round pick, is anywhere near comparable to trading pick 6 and one of your best mids (and club captain) for a first year player, who had yet to establish himself as even a best 22 player, on a million dollar contract?

Don't get me wrong here, I actually think Boyd has the tools to develop in to one of the better key forwards in the game, but don't try to deflect the ludicrous price your club paid for that deal by using the Treloar trade. You're just embarrassing yourself.

I didn't make the original post. Did you just see the Bulldog logo and assume we are all one person? My point was only in regard to the comment that Collingwood DIDNT pay 2 1st round picks- you did, and I said you got a 2nd rd in return.
