why cant you comprehend that stanley is not destined to play on KPF but instead is destined to play on the resting ruck

Shit I must have been watching different games this year then. I swear he's been playing on their main forwards..... Travis Cloke... Shaun Hampsom (who was their forward not ruck)....

I would be tempted to play Fisher on Lynch. Dispite his 10 goals, he is by no means a Jack Riewoldt. I think Fisher would have a good chance of nullifying Lynch while still be able to run off him. Otherwise Gwilt seems to be the man for the job.

Would not waste Dempster or Roberton on him, we need them for smaller faster forwards and midfielders coming forward.

Wish we had some for Dempster or Roberton to matchup on.

you do realise that we are in a development phase? and maybe just maybe watters is playing him on those fwds as part of his development

just because a player spends some time on a certain player doesnt mean that is where the coaching group see's him long term. newnes has played in the forward line on goodes, that doesnt mean he will be played in that type of role for the rest of his career

come on man, think a bit broader, instead of automatically reaching for the sarcasm defence

oh and on sampson, he is not what i would calla genuine KPF, again he is a ruckman that is played forward. this is the type of player that stanley will take into the future. sides are full of them.

oh and btw sampson had 7 hit outs, which indicates he did in fact play/spend sometime in the ruck (1 more than kruzer)

So IN YOUR OPINION Stanley will take the resting ruckman IN THE FUTURE? Is that what you are saying? Why do I have to have same opinion as you? There has been no mention from any coaching staff that this is what will happen to Rhys in future.

i was asking the question why cant you see him playing that role on the resting ruck? as you seem to have posted numerous times that rhys has to take the power forward, even though you dont think he can do that role (which is a very odd, to demand that a player plays a role that you dont think he is capable of. not sure what you are trying to achieve).

i then pointed out that just because he played on cloke (a power forward) doesnt mean he will play there into the future and that it was more than likely due to development (something watters alluded to in his post match presser).

i then responded to your point after your all too common sarcastic response, that stanley has in fact played on resting ruck opposition players, as early as last week. a role that has been fairly common for him this year, more so than the power fwd IMO

I can't believe we are talking about Lynch. Muppet - period. discussion over.

I think Dangerman is the worry along with Thomson. They both kill us. For that reason Jones has to come back in and take one of them otherwise they will physically monster us without Lenny.

anyone know when they will be flying to Adelaide? tomorrow? I am curious to see who flys

They get in tomorrow evening

cheers. we may not know anything different but it will be interesting to see who flys with the selected 22
They usually take all 3 on interstate trips don't they? Maybe not this weekend though with the VFL game on Saturday and a Bye last week.

Yeah - good point and my thoughts also. The problem is that none of the 3 reserves played last week so someone ends up not playing for 2 weeks. Mind you - it doesn't affect blakey who is purely 'break glass in case of emergency" (classic ;):thumbsu: ). To a lesser degree Jones who is super fit. Dunnell is most affected by missing 2 in a row so if he is unlikely to play then my money is on him staying behind and playing Saturday.

Disappointing to see some rather personal attacks on a former player (who has not only been a Saints fan all his life but has also not been treated fairly by our then head coach during his time with us).

Anyway, I could not watch the game and would be grateful for a (fair) assessment of his game - he kicked 'only' two goals this week, but was named in Adelaide's best and 14 kicks and 11 marks sounds ok to me.

Please don't bother to abuse him again or tell me about Newnes' game (who appeared to have had a very good game, too - good to see him do well), I am just interested in Lynch's game as I quite enjoyed watching him play for Sandringham (albeit more in a 'quarterback' role) and was disappointed that he never got the opportunity he - in my opinion - deserved considering his repeated performances for Sandringham.

Cheers !

He was well held in the first half, Holden, but really started to shine in the second, when he could start to run and exploit his contested marking ability. The Crows essentially have him playing a similar role to either Sam Fisher or Sam Gilbert, giving him freedom to play out of the backline and attack. The structure of the Giants really lent itself to a person playing that role to go crazy, as Lynch did.

Honestly, I think that's why it was a good win-win for every club involved in the trade: I was talking to the Crows fans about it at the game. They got Lynch to fill a need, the Tiges got Maric to fill a need, we got Newnes to fill a need. We didn't need Lynch for that role - he was behind Fisher, Gwilt and Gilbert, and would now be behind Roberton as well.

Didn't really notice contested marks Perc (stats only credited him with 1 which was low down - giving Gwilt no real chance to spoil).

I thought he still had a soft spot for us early on (turned the ball over and gave away free kicks). But he kept working - principally outside 50 with only 2 of his 11 marks taken inside 50 for 1 goal 1 behind - and his field kicking was pretty good. Those at the game would be better placed to advise how hard the defenders followed him up to the wings. Seemed to take most of his marks there on long leads without that much attention.

For what its worth, he didn't play a blinder as the week before, but he did play himself into the game. Loved the way he kept running and moving. Deceptive as he ended up with a heap of marks, but didn't stand out doing this. Whilst he may have been seen as slow by many when at Saints, he didn't appear to be slow last night.

I thought he played a good game. Also post match it was great to see him being warmly greeted by Saints players. He and Montagna were having a great exchange. It was obvious that there was real fondness for him from Saints players.

that's the joke!!!
