In the first 5 minutes

Toovey slapped the ball into a Hawk player's knees, then turned the other direction...Hawks goal

Toovey goes in to get the ball, fumbles 3 times, gets a bump, runs the other direction

We should seriously look at Ryan Cook as being our tagging option while R Shaw is out. We should probably look at it anyway.

I don't think he is anywhere near as bad as most people make out he is. With our backline the way it is we will probably have to persist with him for a few years yet.

Presti in his first 4 or 5 years didn't look much better and most fans wanted him delisted back then.

Yet all three look like competent footballers when going near the ball, and don't fall over, or fumble, or run into another player and fall over, or run into someone and spill the ball to the opposition, or over run the over the ball, or lose their opponent who gets the ball, or miss a tackle every time they go near it. Players make mistakes sometimes, it happens, but with Toovey, not making a mistake is the exception. And shit, I almost feel bad bagging a player like this but i've never been so frustrated with the selection of a player.
I'm sure Toovey does all the right things off field and even takes the skin off his chicken, but he has no ability.

He did not beat any of his opponents, they weren't used and acted as decoys for the Buddy and Roughy show. He could have zoned off but he just does't have the nouse.

The 'banana' in the middle of the ground was truly cringe worthy, how can the ball go at a right angle off your boot?.

When we closed to ten points he coughed up the ball at the top of the square and gave up an easy goal to kill off our only challenge.

Offers no rebound and we have trouble clearing the ball when Heater's not doing it.

Playing Toovey is flogging a dead horse, this will sound harsh but it's hard to polish a Jimmy Hird.

I cringe when he is anywhere near the ball. I really feel for the lad. It's not his fault that some clueless blokes at our club think he has ability. He could've been playing in the WAFL somewhere, and not bothering anyone. I really hope he finds a nice career in life away from Collingwood when the inevitable happens.

Everyone does realize that he will be at the footy club next year no matter how you feel. Don't you?

He's been giving a few chances this year without really doing anything at all at VFL level.

Malthouse likes him. He's going to be around for a while yet.

Heater, Pendles, and Clarke were the best of an ordinary lot IMO. Toovey was OK. O'Brien did some reasonable stuff, but burned the ball terribly -- he wasn't alone there.

I'm glad somebody noticed that Clarke was good. I think he's going to be very good at extracting the ball in the future. He's seems to be very creative about it.

Burns was also good tonight and Maxwell; he just couldn't slay the giant.:(

This kid puts on a lot of defensive pressure for your mob, in fact he laid the most tackles out of any of your players last night with 6. He doesn't mind to tackle, and when the ball is near ground level he doesn't mind getting in there. The negative criticism about him is that his decision making skills are lacking quality and that in marking contests he doesn't make the ball the number one priority, not just last night against Williams, but other nights as well I have noticed but that should work itself out with experience and some added muscle with a few more preseasons under his belt. I guess the main message I'm trying to get across is be patient, wait until he reaches the 40 game mark then make some judgements on him, but until then, little glimpses of good play is what you look for, and his tackling is quite good for a bloke that young and when he bulks up, if he bulks up, his tackling could be right up there in the AFL.
