Disgusted at two of his efforts and if Malthouse didn't pay attention to how this guy reacted under physical pressure on the big stage IN HIS 50TH GAME I'd be pretty surprised.

I really hope Goldsack gets some form going because he is miles ahead of Toovey and a proven finals performer.

Toovey will always play like Toovey, i.e Squib and pull out of tough situations, fumble etc etc...

Unfortunately, we will have to wait until MM serves his time before Buckley takes over and culls Toovey from the list. Buck's would not allow this type of skill-less player to be part of his squad.

Toovey, Didak, Cloke and Wood all squibbed it last night, alerting me in the first half to the likelihood of a Geelong win. Geelong players were prepared to put their bodies on the line, where too many of our players were not prepared to cop a battering.

I noticed Sidebottom do it three or four times within the space of about 15 mins in either the 3rd or 4th quarter, was the first time i've ever noticed something poor about his game.

Still young though so it's excusable.

well.. maybe last night highlighted one major thing if anything..

they are still physically way too strong for us and intimidate us.

I don't think Leroy is a star but I am without a doubt that he is required for finals football in a side that doesn't have enough strong bodies.

Yep.. Geelong players like Hunt and Byrnes never squib it.Hunt dropped his head so badly a couple of seasons back when he thought the pack was coming that it took him a long time to recover from the humiliation. Plenty of premiership teams have had less than ferocious players in their teams.

Brown, Didak, Sidebottom and Toovey all didn't go hard enough at times last night.

Didak for a supposed superstar squibs it on a weekly basis these days.

We are not there yet physically either just had to watch the Sidebum and Wellers vs Bartel incident to see the size difference, even Selwood monsters most of our mids.

Strange given Buckley is one of tooveys main supporters

Buckley also created a kicking drill to measure draftee's kicking ability, when he is head coach a Toovey may not even get drafted let alone get games.

When Buckley is head coach and his name is the one under pressure we will see where he rates Toovey.

I have no doubt Buckley is a major reason we are seeing O'bree, L.Brown and others being dropped all of a sudden.

in saying that Toovey has his good games and bad ones.

Possibly true

but I reckon you could link malthouse to the African apartheid abd Buckley to the Mandela led revolution if you tried too and I'm not joking.

Buckley is having an effect but to think it's anymore then any other assistant coach, is well wishful thinking to utter bullshit

i dont remember cloke and wood doing that. in fact im always surprised by woods toughness and am shocked hes been copping so much heat.

didak unfortunately will always be a squib.. cant remember the last time he went hard at the ball with another player coming at it too.. we'll just have to accept it because it wont change and he is still one of our most skilled players

toovey, i saw him squib it once and thought it was uncharacteristic.

I heard that Buckley threatened to walk out unless O'Bree, Brown and Lockyer were elevated to the senior side again. MM came to a compromise with Buckley and picked O'Bree just to keep everyone happy.

See, I can engage in ridiculous speculation and bullshit too. :p

Nice try at deflecting buddy fact is I don't hate Malthouse I just think his time was up and he had his chance, we are seeing a few differences this year which coincides with Buckleys return.
Now this could be coincidence or it could be a combination of Buckley, Waters, Malthouse and co brainstorming, yes MM has to sign off on it but he was obviously nudged or convinced by someone that the old favs weren't going to cut it.

We also were playing a tweaked game plan, we are more attacking could be MM doing but goes against his last 10 years of not liking players running forward of the contest.

We still go wider then I'd like but on the whole we are belting average sides and still struggle vs the best teams.

Nah yeah...

It may be speculation but going off previous MM history of selection and comments from previous assistants it isn't a far fetched one to assume Buckley is having input into the dropping of said players or tinkering of the game plan.

But this is bigfooty where all comments are taken to the extreme so my comment must read: It's all Buckley and no one else involvement, instead of Buckley is having a major say or influencing MM selections...

Wow.

Just wow.

It's not far fetched, but it's entirely based on the fact that it sounds good to you, rather than any real information. Your assumption is DTM-esque in terms of the degree of speculation involved.

Just keep the nude twitpics to a minimum and you'll be right

This ridiculous anti Toovey sentiment is sickening.

Toovey was as good as any on Friday night.

Always a few ready to jump out out of the darkness with knives ready when we lose.

Everyone has their fall boys and Toovey is a popular one becuase he is an unfashionable player. To pull out two supposed mistakes by a player over the course of a game as a criticism of his place in the side is really taking things out of context. He's been really good in general for well over a season now. He wasn't faultless but he played his role and wasn't the worst by any stretch. I think in the 2nd or 3rd he played a big part in our momentum too which was encourage to see.
