1 - Matthew Lloyd - still the best and by a fair margin.

Eq. 2 - David Neitz - finally allowed to play a full season at FF and showed the benefit.

Eq. 2 - Alastair Lynch - gets better as he gets older.

4 - Barry Hall - has the ability to be a century goal kicker, but does he have the temprament or the team to deliver it to him.

5 - Troy Wilson - big and strong, still learning at 30 due to his late start.

6 - Kent Kingsley - needs to back up 2002, hopefully not another John Barker.

7 - Saverio Rocca - big and a huge kick. Age may be catching up.

8 - Nathan Thompson - fully fit and at full forward could be a handful.

9 - Trent Croad - no brain, but heaps of ability.

10 - Chris Tarrant - see Trent Croad.

I thought this was a "top ten full-forwards of all time" thread until I read the contents.

I had the list in my head, and it's not going to waste so:

1. John Coleman
2. Peter Hudson
3. Tony Lockett
4. Jason Dunstall
5. Gordon Coventry
6. Bob Pratt
7. Gary Ablett
8. Peter McKenna
9. Ron Todd
10. Doug Wade

Surely Blethyn and Donahue weren't far off?

George Doig?

:D

Been here before,

Plugger was a better full forward than Coleman for his 99 game stretch at the same age and you can add longevity

On the topic Lloyd easily, I'd be putting money on Hall overtaking Lynch this year, and at least matching it with Neitz if not shading him.

Wayne as a FF would be about forth.

My top 5 would be:

1. Lloyd

2. Hall.

3. Neitz (close to 2nd)

4. Carey

5. Lynch

While Lynch is dependable, I doubt he has much chance of kicking a ton, while the top 3 are all very good chances.
Carey is the unknown.

Wayne Carey doesn't rank for the reason that his body was failing him in 2001 and a season out of football will not help him. i could be proven very wrong, but i think Carey will struggle to kick 20 goals this year from very limited game time.

Chris Tarrant is much better than most of those lugs. Injury restricted him plenty last year.

By no brain, I assume you mean off the field, because he is footy smart. Croad for example is an athlete that works hard to be a footballer, whereas Tarrant has the nous (and athletisism), but lacks the application. He always looks lazy (and has been in the past) but he is working harder.

He is built like a machine this year. He will step up to the next level with 65-75 goals, barring injuries.

Tarrant would be lucky to make my top 16! :D :D

That wouldn't surprise me, but neither would a year of 22 goals and spending time at Williamstown. His application is a huge downside, but will he ever get it all together?

from the games that i've seen him play I see tarrents biggest weakness being his head. not so much in his footy smarts but his his attitude and confidence. if the opposition can get into his head early he tends to have a bad game.

Tarrent is the most overated footballer in the country. He can't get a sniff of the footy unless it is gift wrapped for him and the team is on fire. Lucky to get in the top 10.

He's a half forward flanker. Fraser will be our full forward this year.

It's interesting that Nathan Brown has been left out of this discussion. Though he is often thought of as a forward pocket or midfielder, when he does play in the forward line he is often our key forward target and he has to lead and mark just like any other fullforward. If he was considered elligible for this thread, he'd have to be 4-5.

the only way wayne will kick less than 20 goals is if he plays less than 5 games. You Base this solely on his inability to get on the ground rather than his ability to play

30 goals if he plays less than 10 games

70 if he plays most of them.

If his body stays ok he will be extremely difficult to stop

Doubtful,

Watched him play a trial game at the Parade the other week, and (granted he was obviously injured) looked lost at FF. I've got this feeling he is going to take a fair bit of time to adapt to playing at FF, and will struggle early until he gets a feel for when and where to lead when leading up the ground as a FF.

It will be a long hard year if either of those line up there. You better hope Buckley and Woewoden can score enough from midfield.

They will. So will Lonie and Burns. Didak, Rocca, Tarrant and Fraser all score 35 goals or more this year. We do not play old fashioned "kick it to me" footy - like the Swans who only ever try to bomb the ball to the full forward. We have dozens of targets.
