I think he is. Has been a match winner a few times, stood up when it counted with game changing moments and looks back to his usual reliable self. Definite top 10 at the very, very least imo.

EDIT: Equal 3rd in the AFLCA award and 3rd in the The Age POTY so far as well, so that's probably an okish guide. So it's harsh to say he's definitely not a top 5 mid.

From last nights game;

Inside 50's

Boyd ok not outstanding
Swan see Boyd
Pendlebury in best 2-3
Sidebottom very good
Cloke very poor

Others of note;

Griffen close to BOG in losing side
Beams outstanding
Dahlhaus quiet again
Murphy just ok but 2 howlers at end of game really cost.
Lake been good since round 1 shocker, dominated Cloke.

I think as St Kilda now enter a harder part of the draw and will fall away a bit, his recognition will too.

I predict something on the contrary. Hayes thrives on a tough contest. He's dominated games we've lost by 10+ goals.

Halfway through the round and I'd imagine Kennedy, Pendlebury and Thompson are locks for the top three after this round and possibly the next. A result of quality performances, consistency and team success. Please forgive my bias but there's a reasonable argument Thompson could be above Pendlebury. Either way there's not too much between them, but Kennedy did enough this week to keep his nose in front.

Murphy has the chance to grab forth and Cochin and Scott Selwood could climb tomorrow. I'm expecting Hayes and Rockliff to fall a couple of places as Watson, Stanton and possibly Mitchell climb. Ablett missing again means he will continue to fall.

Keep are the good work!

I know Franklin hasn't been extraordinary, but he was best on for Hawthorn v Collingwood. 2nd or 3rd best on for Hawthorn v Adelaide. 2nd best on ground last night.

18.5 disposals, 5.3 marks, 4.3 tackles and 2.7 goals per game is good by anyones measure. No doubt that goal stat will improve as the season wears on, but when you compare his season to Clokes, he has probably been better so far.

Pretty spot on. Top 3 is clearly ahead now.
I'm tossing up who I want to put 2nd and 3rd. It'll be a line-ball decision.
Not sure I'll rise Mitchell, depends on the players around him. His game wasn't fantastic last night.

And he will firm into the mid-20s on the back of last night's performance.
I don't think Cloke will be in the 50 after Friday night.

Essendon vs Brisbane was a real lop sided game, so movement will be mainly all up for the Bombers and down for Lions.

Watson: BOG for mine. Lead from the front, ran hard all day, won the hard ball, made the right decisions and was involved in many goals. Might be a crack for top 5 depending on Murphy today.
Stanton: Another massive game, ability to run non stop and find his own space highlighted by again taking 17 marks, racked up 39 touches but also worked the other way laying 8 tackles. A shake at top 10 again.
Ryder: Took a back seat to a dominant Bellchambers. As a duo they smashed Hudson, Ryder's tap work was great, but barely sighted around the ground so should drop a bit.
Crameri: Amazing in the first quarter with 4 goals straight. Quiet in the second, picked up again in the 3rd with a few score assists only to cop the knock to the knee late in the quarter. Did enough to hold roughly where he is.
Zaharakis: Great game, full 4 quarter effort. Super clean with the ball. Could be a chance of cracking into the 50.
Jetta: Probably his best game of the season. Chased hard, his constant forward pressure lead to 3 goals for himself along with more for Davey and other Essendon forwards. Also could be a chance to slip into the 50.

Others: Fletcher was great as usual, maybe into the unluckies. Lonergan was amazing, should snag a vote in the Brownlow. Heppell had his best game for the season. Bellchambers immense both in the ruck and around the ground, has Hille in big trouble. Davey again had a great game working well with Jetta. Hooker's spoiling a delight.

Rockliff: Poor game. Hardly sighted, but didn't have much support so not a surprise. Should drop.
Black: One of the only Lions to stand up. Played well, but uncharacteristically burnt the ball quite a bit. Held well by Hocking.
Redden: Got it a lot, however influence tailed off as the game went on. No movement.

Others: Brown best of the Lions, had to win kicks up the ground but always did something good when he got the ball. Rich got it a lot, but disposal was terrible.

I had Kennedy as our 3rd best, so should remain 1st overall I guess. Richards struggled last night and Walker clearly won that battle. 1st bad game of the year though but will no doubt fall, up to you how far. Bird had a shocker. I had Parker 5th best, so he should probably stay in the 50. Jetta was the best player on the ground and enough to jump into the top 50 imo.

1. Kennedy (1st)
2. Richards (mid 20's at worst)
3. Parker (40's)
4. Jetta (40's)
------------------------------
5. Bird (Unlucky)
6. Jack (Unlucky)

Malceski, Hanners and Goodes the next 3.

Watson - will be in the 5. At the moment I'm toying with:
1. Kennedy
2. Pendlebury
3. Thompson
4. Selwood
5. Watson
Selwood is on par to have a whale of a game for us and with Murphy and Cotchin not on their A-games today I expect he'll take the 4th spot.

Stanton - probably about 7th-8th.

Ryder - early thirties
Other rucks:
Naitanui - didn't play - will slide into the 40s
Sandilands - didn't play - slide out of the 50
Kreuzer - no opponent to speak of for half the game and Hampson was better. Will slide into the forties.
Jacobs - into the 50.
Maric - um, ah, undecided. We'll see.

Crameri - my thoughts echo your own.
Zaharakis/Jetta - we'll have to see. Let of players have claims from 35-50.
One perhaps. We'll balance up Jetta's earlier form against Zaka's more brilliant form of recent weeks.
Rockliff - into about 25ish now.

Richmond vs Port

Ivan Maric BOG. 46 hitouts, 20 disposals. Constantly filled the hole in the backline and took contested marks. Close to top 50.
Deledio: Close 2nd to Maric. Was very damaging. Hold/Rise.
Rance: Offered more offensively than last 2 weeks. Mid 20 possesions and don't remember him getting a goal kicked on him. Hold/Rise.
On the flip side
Cotchin: Worst game of the year. Was non existant most of the day. Couldn't beat the tag today. Slide.

Rance: Played his normal game, should the players above him slide, he should move up but will probably just retain his spot.
Maric: Should be pushing for selection now. Held his own against Cox/Naitanui last week and was BOG against Port.
Deledio: Having an absolute ripper of a season. He was BOG up until half time and still had a good second half. Could sneak up a few spots.
Grigg: Another solid game, 40- >50 will be his regular spot this year.
Cotchin: I was very disappointed with his game. He should slide a considerable amount. (Not too far I hope!)
Tuck: He has played exceptionally well in the past few games and will be pushing selection. He probably needs 1 more good game to gain a spot.
Grimes: Has been excellent every round bar the first. He is one of the most underrated players in the competition at the moment and has thrashed his opponent week in and week out. Kept Butcher to a non-existent game.
Morris: What a player he is. He goes in to every contest like it is his last and he provides good run from the backline. He wouldn't vie for a top 50 position yet but would be sniffing it.
Martin: After such a large list you'd think I'd be done but lucky last Martin is finally starting to pull some good games together. He would be on the fringes now.

And here's round 6:
top50-round-61.jpg

We were going to draft Scott Selwood with pick 19 if we didn't trade for McMahon. Imagine our midfield. Still hurts, thanks Wallace! What a gun he's turned into it.

3 tigers in the top 15. Feels weird because we sit 2-4 but I'll take it!

Pretty good list. Only question marks I'd have is you seem to mark Buddy and Swan harshly.
