Opinion Top 50 2012

Here's my weekly Tiger report.

Defenders:
Rance: What a game, was absolutely excellent defensively, keeping Reid to basically nothing. Offensively, was just as good. He amassed 27 possessions and 12 marks and was a major part in our win.
Grimes: Again, so underrated, probably because a young KPD isn't expected to be dominating like he is. Thrashed Grundy and Everitt, was composed and also picked up 24 pos and 12 marks. Hasn't been beaten by his opponent once this year.
Midfielders:
Tuck: This week should be his induction into the top 50. He defeated your rank no.1 in a fair battle. He also picked up 24 possessions and 8 tackles. Tucky has had a massive year.
Cotchin: A very good game, wasn't a blinder but still was one of our best. 27 possessions, 6 clearances and 6 inside 50's was a very decent effort. He should maintain his spot.
Deledio: Week after week he just continues to impress as a midfielder. He stepped up when he needed to and also picked up 25 disposals.
Grigg: He won the game off of his boot. What a wonderful pick up he has been and his output this year would have him in the top 50 this year. He is our leading disposal getter and this week he kicked 3 goals and had 26 pos.
Martin: After his first half, I thought he was going to be BOG for the match but sadly, he was disappointing after. He still managed a decent game and you can sense a massive match coming his way.
Foley: Looks his previous AA form. He really used his speed to his advantage and had 8 tackles and 7 clearances today. He could've been a tad cleaner off the boot but was still very good regardless.
Forwards:
Riewoldt: He is starting to play some very good football. He has had consecutive bags of 4 and he could have kicked more had he been more accurate. (4.4) I don't see him as top 50 yet, but would be sniffing.
Rucks:
Maric: Big Ivan has been wonderful. Destroyed his opponent in Seaby today, he picked up 17 pos and 28 hitouts. He also kicked a magical goal and should surely move up in ranking.

Morris, Houli and Newman are steadily making their way up to comment status.
lol 10 Richmond players in an AFL top 50 where Richmond are not even winning 50% of their games :o:o:o

Maric maybe, Riewoldt, Foley, Martin, Grigg all get ****ed and Grimes (Grundy and Everitt are duds) also get ****ed.

All the Bomber players on your list should either maintain their position or move up after this week. Watson and Stanton should probably go ahead of Selwood. Jetta was alright, but probably didn't do enough to get into the 50. Davey's had 4 weeks in a row of three goals and may be getting close.

Agree with nearly everything except for the last part.
Davey kicking two goals in junk time in the last quarter did not overly impress me.
Some people said that I was incorrect to have Zaharakis in the top 50.
Was going to take him out but last night I thought he was probably BOG, so will contemplate keeping him in.
Crameri I will probably drop slightly.
Top 5 will be:
1. S. Thompson
2. J. Kennedy
3. S. Pendlebury
4. J. Watson
5. B. Stanton
Ablett will probably fall about 10th and likely climb rather quickly.
What are people's thoughts?

Top 3 is spot on. Thompson deserves the top spot. Kennedy's worst game wasn't as bad as Pendlebury's, but there's not much between them. Selwood, Watson, Stanton, Deledio and possibly Murphy could all fill the remaining places.

As for Crow's players in the full list, besides Thompson, Sloane and Reilly should rise a few spots, Jacobs and Walker to remain around the same, but Dangerfield will fall. Petrenko could join Tippet in the unlucky list.

Jetta was alright, but probably didn't do enough to get into the 50. Davey's had 4 weeks in a row of three goals and may be getting close.

Jetta's game >>>>> Davey's game, Jetta's pressure is phenomenal atm, 12 goals + leading the competition in assists. Would easily have in there.

A young bloke by the name of Dustin continues to impress - equal leading the league in rebound 50s, equal 6th for 1%ers, 14 kicks and 6 marks a game. Barely given away a free, pretty much hasn't been beaten yet.

He's been as good as any tall back going around. When he puts a bit of size on him, he'll be OK IMHO.

Stanton Watson Zaharakis Jetta Ryder should all hold or improve.
What are your thoughts on Benny Howlett?

My Top 5
1. Scott Thompson
2. Brett Deledio
3. Josh Kennedy
4. Brett Stanton
5. Jobe Watson

Deledio is in the top 10, wouldn't call him top 5 yet. He probably needs just one more excellent game. I would have Pendlebury in at 4. I would have Stanton at 5 and Kennedy and Watson in 2 and 3 respectively.

And here's round 6:

Good effort! :thumbsu:

There is a bit of a lean towards young guys, though.

It's easy to get swayed by a decent game or two by younger players like Bastinac, Ziebell, Zaharakis, etc, but you have to start from the basics imo, and reward the guys who get it done every week.

Judd & Priddis are no brainers if you ask me, and Black and Dal Santo would have to feel hard done by. Guys that give you something every week, even though they are often the focus of the opposition, have to be respected more than a young guy having one flashy game off the leash and a few average ones.

Cloke is not at his best, but he's still one of the leading goal-kickers and contested marks in the comp. Even in poorer form he's ahead of many on the list.

I'm not sure Zaha has had a couple of decent games in a row, but I don't think he's top 50 just yet.

Only Stanton, Watson, Ryder and Crameri would be top 50 from the bombers in my view. Hooker and Fletcher would be close, though Hooker has missed a few so he needs to catch up.

Myself and a mate of mine (an Essendon poster) and working through the first seven rounds ranking the players (0-10) who are within the top 100 or so.
I will continue this on so that the rankings of players are more accurate.
Judd will be back in the 50 after his game on Monday night.
Not so sure about Dal Santo and Black, will see after we've worked through the rankings.

Black is probably on the fringe, but Dal would have to be in there. Along with Hayes he carries the Saints midfield, and is still a top 20 player for CP and CL despite two well publicised tags. He might not be up in the top 30 where his quality might normally put him, but he's still in the top 50.

On Priddis: He is the leading contested possession getter and clearance player in a team that was 6-0. The only game they have lost was when he got concussed! He would be the first Eagle I put on a top 50 list. I know a lot of Eagle fans don't rate him, but he's still a champion.
