Cordy is in the same boat though. Defending above his weight division. He is fine as 3rd man up, help defender but he's playing 1v1 on the 2nd biggest forward.

Wood's role as 4th defender has been overtaken by Crozier really. Lucky for him we're a tall short he keeps playing (also, captain).

I like (reserve in brackets):
Keith (Trengove)
Morris (Roberts)
Cordy (Young)
Crozier (Wood)
any 2 of JJ/Daniel/Williams/Richards/Suckling

I dont think that Roberts will be around next year, does very little in VFL. So we do need a back up to Morris, ( Hartley ( free agent ) as sooner or later Mr Indestructable wont be able to come back.

Are you sure? He regularly gets some good stats (unlike in his senior games). However I haven't been able to watch much VFL and even then it's only on TV, so maybe they are just junk stats? You know, little chip kicks back and forward etc.

So Hartley can’t get a gig with Hurley out. Are we sure he’s good? I’ve been far from impressed with him.
His been replaced by a ruckman. Hartley played half His game in the ruck last week.
He is behind hooker and Ambrose with Francis playing intercept. I think he would be depth at the dogs, not a bad free swing for low cost but would be between Trengrove and Roberts in the pecking order.

Everyone can forget Sam Day now. Re-signed with Suns.
Jesus are we throwing money at anyone? Only hope now is Cameron. Gee we will stay in the wilderness for 5-10 years if we don’t get at least a key position player, a small forward and a ruckman to help English. We’re not not contending for another flag with the current 22 as it stands.

Bev said that they move him around to get him into the 22 because the backline has several players who can play there.

They have been talking to his manager for a long time.

Bev said he is a very good player and required (increasing his value?)

There has been some interest from other clubs (hence the above comment)

Hope to have something sorted before years end. (been talking to manager for long time not sure what will change)

I would hate to lose him his trajectory has been good and is still 21 years old.
Listening to that, it sounded very reminiscent of the comments made late in the season before Dahl left. And others like him. It sounds a bit like the classic official line with a coach whose papers have been stamped, when it has not yet been made public: "He has our full confidence".

I hadn't given it much credence before now, but I'm starting to think Williams might be heading elsewhere after all.

I wouldn't mind keeping him though.

In that case, no thanks.

Hope your wrong but I fear you are spot on.

Fact they have been speaking to manager for sometime with no deal doesn’t bode well

Williams is backing himself in to have a good end to the season and hopefully bring the contract closer to the number he wants

The problem with giving Cordy a pass for playing “above his weight” is that it ignores:

(a) 3rd KPDs basically don’t exist any more;
(b) he’s nowhere near skilful, athletic or attacking enough to play any position other than KPD or as an intercept defender; and
(c) he’s never demonstrated an ability to actually play as an intercept defender.

He was a serviceable second KPD in 2017-18 where he had solid half backs, Morris, and intercept players like Adams & Wood around him. Now that a number of those players either haven’t played, have declined or are gone and the buck stops with him he’s been found out as a KPD.

I liked what he did in 2017, but he’s regressed as his responsibility has grown. Really at the cross-roads now.

Has he been replaced by a ruckman. My understanding is that McNeice is taking his spot which I’m filthy about.
Would be happy just to give you guys Hartley, he deserves better than this

I genuinely believe Bevo will play him forward this week to see what he can do

Think clarck replaces him. Mcniece is a small defender who'd be replacing mckenna

Branden Ellis anyone? No one has spoken about him, he is quick and much younger than Isaac Smith! Bit soft but would fit our game plan. Tonight pre-game, Caracella was asked about if Ellis will be at the Tigers next year, and said he didn’t know

I don't mind him. Thought he was overrated at the start of his career, probably a little underrated now.

Decent wing/half back who can find the ball and be trusted with it. Think a team like Carlton would love him. Think he'd probably find a spot on our team but think we've got some similar types and he wouldn't be my priority.

Never forget, we won a premiership with a spine of Hamling, Roberts, Roughead, Cordy and Boyd.
