Does Bradley Hill really cost us our first? Was only traded to Freo for pick 23 so maybe we will trade up and try get an extra pick?

Freo should be asking for 2 first rounders for him. Won’t get it, but he’s been that good for them. Our first (around pick 10) would be a good result.

Can someone give me the background as to why the Hill's would come to Melbourne? They're Perth boys yeh, and are currently at the same club.

Would like to see us trade our first rounder for the best KPP we can find in that 21-25 age range.

Our midfield is stacked, Bontempelli, Macrae, Dunkley and B Smith would have to be the most promising under 25 midfield in the comp. We need KPP's though.

Im at strong belief that the Hill bros will be at Dogs next year
Very interesting...
Wonder how theyll play stephen as hes a HBF lately but we are loaded with those. If he gets his body right he will be a steal. Any other news to pass on or just the hill brothers? Maybe they've been offered an indigenous community leadership role as well which the club was mentioning as something they needed to focus on in the future. We were all assuming it was Martin we were after

With the seemingly random names being tossed about as a panacea for our apparent shortcomings, youse guys is setting youselfs up for the annual post season recruitment disappointment blue balls awful early.

Go give youself some relief.

Pretty sure they just read BF trade threads and get ideas from there. Or just doing what we do - take an out of contract player, figure out which clubs would suit him, then claim that the club "might" or "should" go after a player, then try to pass it off as some kind of inside source on the matter so they get some of that clickbait action.
So cynical

and accurate :smirk:

Stephen hill
Brad hill
Hartley

While id be stoked to have them in the side, it does not help fix our dysfunctional forward 50.
Our scoring has increased massively this year. I'm not so sure our forward line is such a pressing issue that we can't fix through acquiring role players like Lloyd, or recruiting elite forwards through the top end of the draft.

We played with Rhylee West, Bailey Dale and Zaine Cordy up forward and managed to score 113. I'd like to see if we can do something with what we have for the remainder of the season before we overcommit to a big name like Freo did with Hogan (who, unfortunately for them, has not earned his paycheck so far)

I have no idea who we will end up with. But one thing that can be guaranteed, is that we will be major players in this years trade period. If you are a player looking for a new home. Why the hell wouldn’t you want to come play footy for the dogs? Sure, Carlton will be appealing too. But we’ve proved we know how to climb Mount Everest with our young stars under Beveridge.

I reckon we could end up with AMT and Keath. If we can land both and still take a first round pick to the draft this year (meaning we might move our first pick for 2020) then I’d be happy with that. I’m doubtful on Hill. Would love it, but just think plenty of suitors will bob up for him.

Any three of AMT, B Hill, Martin and Keath would make us a top 4 candidate next year. Plenty of picks and coin, get it done.
Hill for this year's first, Martin for next year's first. Second rounder (and likely B Williams) for Keath, leaving a future second for AMT. Should also try and use our three third rounders this year to get a pick in the second round as well.
I think they're fairly reasonable, gotta go hard and be aggressive this offseason.

If we end up with Tippa, we just need a clay Smith/cam zurhaar type bulldozer in our forward line. Billy Gowers could still become that player.

Dale, Schache, Sam lloyd,
Tippa, Naughton, Bulldozer

If you trade a future first you can’t trade any other future picks.

Do the Hills allegedly want out because of Ross Lyon? And is it possible they'll be put off from coming to us by Josh Hill? Didn't part ways on the best of terms unless I'm thinking of someone else?

For sure. Much better to go hard at getting some quality than end up with one or two fringe KPPs who can't find a home anywhere else and end up being list-cloggers. They occasionally work (eg Hamling) but the majority don't.

So our first round pick will need to come into the equation if the player is any good.

However I have to admit being a bit torn if we have a strong chance of landing a quality KPP in the ND with our first round pick (eg McAsey). As we've seen with Naughton, Ben King etc they don't always need 2-3 years in the VFL before they are ready to make an impact at senior level.

I don’t think Martin has shown form to warrant a first round draft pick. Plus with Ugle-Hagan, our other NGA player and F/S. we need picks and points for next year.

Not sure what Josh Hill has to do with them TBH.
So far the Hill brothers have been linked to Carlton and us. We're also into Jack Martin (quite openly).

I'd really be looking at Adelaide. Like Freo they have a few that are gettable (Keath likes Adelaide but may be available, Greenwood as a tough HF would be gold, and Fogarty hasn't got a look in so we should ask the question).

Tom Browne says we're into Tippa so we can rule a line through him. Browne is just Barrett with a different haircut and less reliable information.
