AFL want to dominate the media space for as long as possible. If anything they will extend it.

Correct, it has nothing much to do with the actual time to make these trades. It could probably be done in three days, but its all about generating clicks and views for the longest amount of time.

I know nothing about the Keath injury situation, but I will say that it’s not that unusual for medicos (even from the same team) to have differing opinions on:

A) exactly what an injury is, and
B) how to treat it.

So I’m not throwing Adelaide under the bus over the Keath stuff.

Reid has come out and said we actually did a scan after Rd23 (I was there, unfortunately, lovely ground btw) and we found his leg to be healing well on its own. Bulldogs and Saints medicos disagreed, happens all the time. We’ve actually had a really good run with injuries this year since Saunders, so i don’t think it’s fair to sit back as armchair docs and judge!
As Reid said, I think it’s just a bit of posturing to try lower his trade worth. He expects Keath to be running by Xmas

Think McLean would change our midfield dynamic considerably.

Would be a fair trade, and wouldn't blame Toby for seeking more minutes. He loves the club though, and is contracted for another 3 years, so it's probably unlikely. I'd see it as a classic win-win though

I'd be fine with a straight swap. Toby is younger but Bruce is a KPP. Both good players without being elite. Pretty similar value, you'd think. Toby's best position is midfield and we have a surplus of mids. Would be a handy acquisition for you guys with Steven seemingly on his way out. Probably won't happen but it would make a lot of sense.

Steven is actually a pretty good comparison for Mclean, never made that connection before. I'd be wanting a bit extra thrown on top but that's probably just my dogs bias.

When you plug in Bruce and Keath into the best 22 it does place a few on the looking for more opportunity list
you should be a list manager as Toby McLean is one of five names on the list.

I suspect it may have come from St Kilda. I reckon they had a few leaks last night.

Don't see it happening because he's contracted and I don't see him wanting to leave, but it's a fairly reasonable suggestion.

You think so? Completely opposite IMO. McLean silky, composed and clean while Jack more all or nothing full speed but no composure type (not that I don’t rate him but different strengths and weaknesses)

I’d be very wary about giving up McLean for anything never mind some one who we can quite easily get with a decent pick. Robbie Gray 2.0.

I think McLean is the 1 that would be first dropped in the team for midfield position. He needs to work on another position or try to make himself a winger in the Hunter mold. Then He and Hunter can swap between forward flank and Wing.

Throughout the whole year I honestly thought Mclean was going to ask for a trade but I can't see it happening now. I think Mclean would be great for you guys though!

Got a source? Or just taking a free shot at the Dogs? Saints discovered the injury just as much. You will find its player managers who do most of the leaking not clubs.

I don’t think we trade 13 unless Carlton can’t get Martin over line with Papley. If that were to happen I would ask for GC 3rd back next year. Blues will probably give next years first for him though with something coming back and get both done. Like the sound of Weightman at 13.

The only person who has said ‘January’ is Sam McClure, who rates as probably the biggest flog come trade time.

Crows (you know, half of the party actually involved with the trade, not vague ‘sources’) have come out and said Christmas he should be running, but this doesn’t mean he can’t do other fitness work until then.

Regardless of what happens with the picks, I’m sure the trade will get done. He’s a cracking player, and with Bruce will make for some pretty good bookends on the park.
