I've seen a few people say that we need to get players rather than picks for Dunkley because we need immediate impact, but I think the notion that first year draftees can't impact from day 1 is false - particularly when looking at the top end of the draft.

I think that bringing in a 'ready to go' mid with a bit of pace and tidy skills would likely spark the team more than whatever B graders a club is going to be prepared to let go in a trade.

Chasing targets that we want is a completely separate equation to maximizing our return for Dunkley.
Yeah this is a good point, and even if their output is likely a little bit less to begin with youve potentially you can get a much better player in time too as any known quality clubs won’t be keen to get rid of.

I think this is the play for smalls, but of course if we could shake an experienced KPD out that’s another story. Seems unlikely though

Schache to Freo would be pretty amusing.
I posted something about Dunks ITT so I'm still getting notifications but my 2c on Schache having pretty good insight into him as a person is that you probably won't be losing sleep losing him. He is a very gifted bloke in many aspects of life but is very much a coaster. In cruise control 99% of the time.

Would work out very, very well for you if this:
1. Offsets the Lobb trade
2. Unlocks the Lobb trade

Before I go and leave you guys to it, Lobb would be HUGE for you guys. He is not a #1 forward, nor is he a #1 ruck - but he is a freak runner, great overhead mark and would be indispensable for your KPP stocks as he'd play 3rd tall at best. Pretty bloody handy 3rd tall.

The thing is Brisbane need all their picks as they need to match bids on the probable #1 pick this year, who is the son of Marcus Ashcroft.

Even if McStay compo is end of first, they still barely have points to match.

As they should be high up next year, a future first doesn't hold great appeal, so what else do they have to offer?
Seriously why would they chase a player when they have no assets to satisfy the club. I don’t think Brisbane as a club are difficult to deal with, unlike Essendon, so you would expect they have something in mind to offer us that is decent otherwise they are wasting everyone’s time.

I tend to agree with the poster who said Dunks might be dangling Port and Brisbane to see who can get a deal done. I would prefer Port, they have more assets of interest.

He just hasn't got it between the ears

So if Freo are interested in Sharp from the Suns, I'm sure Bell will also respect the fact Sharp is contracted for 2023... 🤔

I don’t think Bell is against trading for or out contracted players. If they’re contracted and required he reserves the right to keep them, as do a Gold Coast.

Schache makes a lot of sense for Freo if he's willing to move to WA. They will need some depth mature age KPPs and if Schache can secure himself a 2-3 year deal, probably smart for him too. But yeah can imagine he gets a similar offer from a team like the Saints and can stay in Melb.

Schache isn't what they need at all he's a flanker in a KPF frame

The irony is in my mind, Schache is a better player than Lobb.

Lobb kicked 36 goals this year and played Ruck minutes. Would you back Schache in to kick 37+?
If he played a full season I’d back him to kick 30.

Ok maybe he’s not better, but I don’t think there is a massive gap in their talents to where you’d have to overpay to get one in vs delisting the other.
