Yeah this is a good point, and even if their output is likely a little bit less to begin with youve potentially you can get a much better player in time too as any known quality clubs won’t be keen to get rid of.I've seen a few people say that we need to get players rather than picks for Dunkley because we need immediate impact, but I think the notion that first year draftees can't impact from day 1 is false - particularly when looking at the top end of the draft.
I think that bringing in a 'ready to go' mid with a bit of pace and tidy skills would likely spark the team more than whatever B graders a club is going to be prepared to let go in a trade.
Chasing targets that we want is a completely separate equation to maximizing our return for Dunkley.
I think this is the play for smalls, but of course if we could shake an experienced KPD out that’s another story. Seems unlikely though
