If the suns aren’t making finals, aren’t attracting any big names, pretty much just virtually restarted again 3-4 years ago, and are still struggling with their cap, I see this as a huge issue.

Also we would want any of these contracts to end by 2024 when our young guns are just about all ooc. Don’t know the timelines of these GC contracts.

I wonder if Dunkley moving on will be a good thing for Treloar and getting him to buy into the club a bit more. I agree with some observations that Treloar is a 'cultural ostrich'. Regardless of how the money works, he is our second highest-paid player at $900k a year, so we should expect more from him. I just haven't seen the passion and spirit in his game. I feel like he is a star on loan to us playing representative matches.
I want to see some 'ice in the veins' celebration like a Bailey Smith, or 'high fives all round' like a Josh Bruce or 'get the f*ck off him' like a Libba or 'wanna see me jump on your head again' like Naughton or some 'Get on my back boys, we're winning this one' like Bont.
Just don't get the vibe from Treloar.

Also had an exceptional Prelim as well as spanking his old team this year and often kicking important goals in close games like Carlton last year to get us back in it or Hawthorn this year which ended up with us in Finals

Given what we know now about Dunkley clearly not being a fan of the club, we all know how that sort of negativity can permeate amongst mates.

TBH I never considered/saw Dunkley as a 1 club player and had an inkling there could be a North based move because of family. The issues with behaviour and culture fall on the club though.

Required player but building a future around 1-3 players rarely goes well in the long run

Treloars been awesome for us up until around half way through this year. He’s a bit different to what we’re used to in our mids, we’ve been blessed with hard nuts with elite hands & composure in traffic so he can stand out a bit as maybe being a bit flaky/panicky in comparison, but if you play him to his strengths he’s a weapon.

He’s an inside receiver who transitions the ball from inside to outside through pace and can finish inside 50. You don’t want him on hands & knees you want him receiving from Libba etc. need to get the mix right next year but there’s plentttttty to work with Bont, Macrae, Libba, Treloar & Baz. It’s still probably top 3 mids in the comp when firing, it just hasn’t this year.

I'm really keen to keep first rounder(s) this year and take it to the draft.
If we're getting two (late) first rounder for Dunkley, next years' can be on the table. Jordan Croft might shoot up the draft lists anyway next year

If we do take a salary dump, I'd be looking at grabbing one (or more) of their three second rounders this year for player trades.
Take two firsts to the draft and find some decent role players to plug list holes.
