"Driven out?"

He was poached.
Word was he had a falling out with bevo over gowers getting a rookie spot over his selection.

I shall wait and see how we go , but it does seem the club is somewhat panicked in now trying to bolster our defensive end.
It is somewhat frustrating considering 90% of us on this board could see this to be an issue for a number of years now, and especially after GF last year .
But Bev saw a need to collect a gaggle of mids !
McComb the latest real head scratcher.
Surely we had to try our luck on a developing or mature age tall back at that pick ?

Trengove, Duryea, Keath, Crozier and O’Brien have been brought in over the past five off seasons, I don’t think they’ve been sitting on their hands hoping it would just turn around unlike the ruck.

There’s no set formula with building a premiership list. We all sook and moan when we pick up players like Scott, Gowers, Mccomb, Gardner.. what about Geelong picking up Atkins and Stewart? Or picking up a fair few duds from other clubs…

The Bulldogs jumped on board Geelong’s philosophy after 2007, recruiting McCarthy. All he seemed to do was put the players who played against Geelong down. The players revolted, McCarthy was gone, and the Bulldogs developed their own way of winning.

Atkins and Stewart miles ahead of any of the names you just mentioned 😂

Did they delist Gardner a similar time that Stewart was coming through? If it was says something surely doesn't it?

Wish we had Geelong's endless cap.

When you mention Geelong's salary cap you have to use these:

We need a land developer on board as a sponsor or a home builder, a car company, someone close to the club who owns a few pubs - some little carrot to dangle 😉

Respectfully disagree.
only Trengove and Keath are KPDs .
And only Keath you can argue was a good and important get.

Dont see you can argue our stocks of KPDs have been woefully inadequate across the whole list for a long time.

The ruck , yep also diabolical 👍

That was definitely part of it but not all of it. There was serious conflict between JMac and Dalrymple that didn't go down well with the hierarchy.

Dalrymple is pretty open on what happened. The footy manager at the time (Chris Maple), didn't back him in and instead went with Bevo's drafting choice. Dalrymple hated this and he mentioned in this interview below, that Bevo held too much power at the club and he began to dislike his job. He was considering leaving recruiting altogether, but a call came from Sydney asking him if he knew of any recruiters available. Not head recruiter positions, just a regular recruiting position. In the end, he said he was interested in the job and then they opened up a head recruiter position for him and off he went.

It's all in this interview which is really a good listen. The bulldogs stuff starts around the 36 minute mark and he goes into how it all started and how it ended.

Don’t forget the podcast only covers Dalrymple’s side of things. No doubt a correct reflection but definitely not the whole story.

We have it from the horses mouth but there'll still be a bunch who will say it's just rumours and speculation.

If we got a 2022 and 2023 first for Dunkley and gave some back, and Geelong got pick 7 from Gold Coast (with Bowes), could we assist Geelong making their Bruhn and Ollie Henry trades easier by moving a package of firsts to the Cats for the 7 they receive from GC?

If we move Naughton back i might just shut myself out of 2023. Imagine moving our highlight machine from forward to back and then also making it more difficult for Sam Darcy to grab a spot (lets face it, the club shouldn't put Darcy and Lobb in the same forward line). I could name about 5 other reasons also.

What a waste of about 5 years development to abandon the plan.

Get Jones in, Darcy back, Lobb forward. Pretty simple really. And fix the game plan.

Any update on who we are looking at getting during the trade period? I remember you mentioning Barrass a few weeks back

Time to celebrate getting Jones back (at the age of 31) for a bag of chips & can of coke? (sarcasm intended)

Dalrymple got us the players that landed the 2016 flag, since he's moved on our recruiting has been hit & miss
