I'll refrain from raising new names then. Let's all spend another 20 pages discussing whether we have / why we haven't contacted Logue. To which the answer is, "Nobody knows, it's round ******* 17." :thumbsu:

Through in any names then. We should get Harris Andrews or Steven May or David Dench.
If you going throw any names in, no need to take it personally if someone thinks it’s not a great or realistic idea.

Brad

I don't think he can play full time ruck. He is great utility, very similar to our Tim but more nimble to play a CHB or CHF role while Tim is the better ruck/mid ala Dean Cox. Jackson should definitely cash out while he can, his value/bargaining power has never been higher.

He looked alright last week when they demolished Brisbane, but then again that was fairly one-sided from QT onwards. So you might be right, he does feel more like a forward/ruck at this stage.

If he does go to Freo then you'd think another player or two shakes loose from there - even if the quoted salary in the media is too high there'd be a sizable difference between what Lobb's being paid and what they'd need to pay Jackson. Not to mention the draft capital they'll need to spend. Interesting player move all round.

I wonder if Jack Henry could be prised out of Geelong with the emergence of DeKonig. Might not be big enough for kpd1 though.

Apart from the winning mark v Richmond he has been poor.

I guess I don’t.

dedicating so much time to Jordan Sweet, while bagging a coach who has taken us to two GFs, including a premiership, has to be the train I need to get on,
Include Sweet in more articles, while saying you won’t mention Sweet again.
We need Sweet mentioned more.
Intelligence is oh so Sweet,
Football knowledge is Sweet.
Saying the same thing over and over and over again is Sweet.

The thing about Jackson is that he is a 20yo physically competitive Ruck/kpf. The gap between him and 2018 English is huge. His peak is at least 5 years away.

Who knows what his ceiling is.

If Freo lock away a Darcy/Jackson combo for 6-10 years they are in an extremely strong position.

If we were to prise a lockdown KPD free like a Barass or McGovern (which I doubt, but hope we do) I think it would be ideal for Keath to slim back down a bit and become more of an intercepting player.. it would probably help him with the soft tissue injuries as well

Wind your neck in mate, he mentions one player and you have taken it like he has said he’s the only defensive target we’ve got. You’ve twisted your own words into his and are now arguing with him about it.

Take the L and move on.

I was more objecting to your assumptions that we are chasing him or that he is our only target based on me throwing a name up for discussion.

Anyway, we move on. I don't know how realistic high-value targets who will attract competitive bids (like Logue or Barrass, for example) are, so I think it's reasonable to look for cheaper options who could potentially offer more than their market price. I'm not particularly attached to Marchbank as an option, but you're unlikely to find low-cost value without taking a risk on (1) an injury history; (2) a drop in form; and/or (3) age. I think the idea is sound, of course failing more appealing options.

Why do narcissist weird dudes rhumbs down our own supporters in articles?
Surely we have a common goal?
I don’t see how Jordan Sweet is worthy of every page I read, but I respect the club.

Isn’t thumbs down for the opposition?

Can take Alex Pearce off the list. Resigned.

Is Darcy definitely a forward? I thought he played both positions as a youngster? maybe you have your defender already on your list?

If Lobb comes in then I could see Darcy playing defense for you guys

He’s played his best in the ruck at VFL level, but has been serviceable in all thirds of the ground. He might be just a bit big to play as a KPD, might not be mobile enough to play on a lot of modern key forwards. 208cm now.

Sam Darcy would need the mobility of Darcy Moore to be any sort of AFL level KPD imo.

He just doesnt have that it appears. Will be a forward/ruck for sure!

I think it’s appropriate to look at what English was doing when he was at a similar games played to what Jackson is now (compare English 2019 season to Jackson this year). The stats are quite similar except English had more hit outs which you’d expect for a number one ruck.

The interesting thing is English pretty much equals him in all the areas you’d expect Jackson to benefit from being a second ruck (disposals, marks, goals etc).

Jackson could very well be a better player in the long run but suggestions he’s ahead of where English was at the same stage of their careers is laughable. Even more so when you consider English was battered from piller to post for his first 50 games.

Agreed. He just won't have the speed and agility to be a genuine KPD in the Harris Andrews or Darcy Moore mould.

Long term he's our English partner. A Lobb acquisition might allow him to develop in this role at lower level for the next couple of years.

That's how I see it. Admittedly I did not predict that'd he'd do so well in the ruck so far but here we are.

We were our most dominant last year with the three headed monster forward line, that's why we're getting Lobb. The added bonus is that he will allow more time for Marra and Darcy to develop.

I think Lobb, Naughton, Bruce and Marra can fit in the same forward line IF coached right.

I'll be honest - I don't. Opposition teams would walk it out.

Bruce needs to recover then push for selection.
Right now Flea & West are F50 starters and we have a bunch of mids who rotate forward too. That's before we consider the smalls like Garcia, McLean, etc

Essendon speaking with Liam Jones

Surely we make the call?

I’m not convinced Darcy isn’t agile enough to play in defence. He’s pretty athletic and mobile. From what I’ve seen at VFL level he covers the ground well to get to contests, and that’s after a long layoff with a foot injury.

Jordan Roughead made a good first of being a KPD recently and he was lumbering compared to Darcy.

Def feel like we will know his long term spot after being able to do a full pre-season of training
See if we can improve his agility
