The club have chased him in the past, including last year. He's much bigger than Gardiner and Adams which is a bonus.
For me he's ok, has potential, but it's more about what Sammy is likely to do than what I want.

Fair enough. Personally I would like to see us aim a bit higher, focusing on defenders that can defend better. Not sure Payne is this.

Darcy Gardiner his team mate is a free agent and maybe he wants to be a bit closer to home. Very honest defender, probably more of a long shot, but who knows. Maybe a Jordon Butts from Adelaide also? He's shown much more potential then Payne and Adelaide have a history of losing young players early on in their careers. They might be more willing if Daniel goes to them.

Then we could swing Picks 11 and 20 for Logue and 16 if we manage to get him over the line.

Think that’s a good call of Richmond for Dunks and 11 and an upgrade from 27 to 20 is probably fair value considering he’s out of contract - but I’d still prefer to keep him if that’s all we’re getting.

Think that’s massive overs for Logue though tbh, what’s he really done at AFL level? Not sure what he’s bringing To our backline, he’s a bit undersized, not particularly great one on one, not an overly strong interceptor - can link up well but has avg skills and the last thing we need is another accumulator with no real impact. Just not sure what the hype is about there tbh - I think the fact that he’s behind so many at Freo is artificially upping his value

My call at the time had nothing to do with who he was off field. (Given that it was prior to these photos being shared).

We’d be giving up one of the best young mids in the league, one of the most marketable players in the game (which does matter, especially for a club like ours) when we have pretty much no quality young mids coming through. For a position we don’t even need next year (Bruce, Naughty with Jamarra & Darcy coming through)

Not only that but Lewis has played what 10 good weeks of footy, he looks really good this year admittedly but is not even close to a known quantity at this stage - I watch a lot of Hawks and have Hawks supporting mates and trust me he has looked terrible up until this year and has surprised even them with how he’s playing.

Baz is already playing at AA level currently and has been at a super high level for years - if you were suggesting one of the better young defenders in the league then you’d have a valid point and people would be more open to your suggestion - there’s nothing to even suggest Lewis could play a third tall role which is what he would be for us, whilst stagnating the development of our number 1 draft pick - plus we have a coach that refuses to play that way anyway, so yes it was laughable at the time and claiming any different after today doesn’t change anything

Naive to think drugs weren’t common during Boyd/Cross era. I do agree though that we lack that type of presence since Boyd/Morris
