Anyone watching tonight's game and keeping an eye on Ginivan? Put his body on the line, set up some scores and had a couple of shots.

Playing well.

His done the small things well, knows where to position himself.

OK, now if Sammy P is sighted at the Collingwood VFL game again this week we can put a line through the Jack Ginnivan chatter.

Anyone available to scout out Vic Pk tomorrow at noon?

Get a pies player and hopefully get some intel

I’m very envious how they play. The players all know their role, they know what they have to do to execute their role, they know where to be to play their role.

Markov, Frampton etc etc no stars but they go well in the pies system

He is a good footballer who had a bad patch. We currently do not have someone who plays his role already, dilousional to think so. Unfortunately, he is back in the 22 now, so what looked like a cheap opportunity may be no more

Ginnivan is a good goal kicker and we could do with another crumber like him. The issue is the defensive side. But he’s not far off Scott or Weightman in this regard. So would depend on who he’s keeping out of the forward line. If he’s taking Scott’s place or we’re planning on playing Weightman higher up the ground, then it could work.

However, there are a few on Collingwood’s list we might be interested in that are probably more in line with our needs, like Ruscoe, Bianco (both OOC) and Macrae and this is probably moot.

Looks like we are still interested

CLUBS WATCHING LOHMANN AS CONTRACT TALKS DRAG ON

Rival clubs continue to monitor Lions youngster Kai Lohmann, who remains uncontracted beyond 2023.

Foxfooty.com.au understands Victorian sides including Hawthorn are keeping tabs on the 20-year old, while his management remain in ongoing talks with Brisbane.

The Western Bulldogs are also believed to be keen on Lohmann given they targeted him last year during the Josh Dunkley deal.

But with Brisbane’s reluctance to include him in the Dunkley trade, it suggests the 20-year old could be tough to pry away from the Lions. Drafted out of the Greater Western Victoria Rebels with Pick 20 in the 2021 draft, the 185cm forward is the last first-round pick from the crop still to pen a contract extension beyond the initial two-year deal.
Lohmann has struggled for opportunities in Brisbane’s stacked forward line in 2023, playing five games all in the second half of the season — including either starting as the sub or being subbed off in three of them.

Brisbane recruiting manager Steve Conole spoke on AFL Media’s Gettable last month of the club’s desire to retain the youngster.

“That‘ll sort itself out, I think,” Conole said of contract talks.

“Hopefully it works out, we’re certainly keen to keep him, he’s a player that has a long-term future for us, so hopefully that (his contract deadlock) works out.

“I‘m sure his management and the club (are) discussing it, we’ll see where that ends up, but I’m confident he’ll stay.”
Get the feeling he’s packed his bags already. Whether it’s us or elsewhere who knows but don’t reckon he’s a Lion next year

I don’t think we are looking at Ginnivan, he loves the Pies, he won’t be interested in moving. My hunch it is Trey Ruscoe.

I know it’s been discussed earlier in this thread, but what about paddy Dow to bolster our mid field next year. Watched him in saints game and came alight in last quarter.

Ah yes a soft outside player who’s struggled to get into a poor team for 5 years just what we need

I don’t agree here. Of the non-key forwards, McCreery had 8 tackles and 29 pressure acts, Elliott had 4 tackles and 16 pressure acts, Hill had 3 tackles and 14 pressure acts...

Ginnivan had 0 tackles and 7 pressure acts. In a forward line that's well tuned and good at locking the ball in, that's atrocious.

Weightman and Scott aren't the best pressure forwards in the league but they are light years ahead of Ginnivan in that respect imo.

Which is why I am not sold on him purely for his goals alone. No point kicking three goals, if you allow three goals to go back the other way. He doesn't stike me as a physically or mentally strong player, who will sustain the type of intensity off the ball required for modern day smalls. Our lack of pressure, and tackling is a bigger issue than our goal numbers. Should be looking to improve in those departments.

He plays the same role as weightman?
Ginnivan is more of a small forward. Weightman plays more an Elliot medium forward role

I don't think he's soft, but I don't think he can kick under pressure either.

I'd much rather hit the draft then chase 'depth' mids - I'd seriously rather rookie Lachie Sullivan than trade for Paddy Dow
