Assuming Wallis is off the list next year, does he retire or head to somewhere like North who could use his experience and leadership?

If we resign Dunkley and also pick up Lobb, then we are either losing someone else (i.e. Hunter) or reports of our cap being stretched have been very wrong

Why would West want to stay if Dunkley does? He won't be cracking the midfield for a while.
I think it's very possible at least one of West/Garcia/McLean request a trade on a promise of more midfield time elsewhere.

Bailey Smith set to re-sign with the club fairly soon according to Ameet.

Not sure how we make room for KPD talent with Dunkley / Baz / West re-signs, do we let JJ and say someone contracted walk?

There will be a bit of cap space freed up, but we need to trade off our first rounders to either split or trade for ready-made talent. We don’t need more kids that are going to be years away right now.

I’ve had a feeling this has already been done and they are waiting for him to start playing again to announce.

It will bite hard with any of those three as compared with Lipinski.
West is powerful, hits the scoreboard and is a great accumulator.
Garcia is as hard as a cat's head and quick.
McLean has runs on the board.

We've been speculating on here that Libba will fall off a cliff soon. It doesn't look like happening any time soon. We can't afford to transition him out just yet because he's too important.

The rest are still young.

West will stay, loves the joint, is best 22 and playing great footy. Will be heart & soul of the midfield for the next 10 years, and room will open up soon.

Stoked about Dunks & Baz too, very good news.

It’s been a shocking year and I know we all want to see changes, but in reality the changes need to happen off field. Keeping the list together, which it looks like we’ve managed to do, was the most important thing for our list management.

More I think about it the more I don’t even want Lobb, more than happy with Jamarra and Darcy in the short term and Bruce will be back to his best next year - wouldn’t even risk him this year.

We just absolutely need to target 2 key defenders, one being a top shelf key defender and ideally the other either a highly rated developing or even an older cheap fill in. Or hell even all 3.

That means big money at a McKay, a Barrass etc - we can get it done with out losing Dunks. Im also more than happy to bring in Jones, he’s a huge upgrade on everyone bar Keath. Jones is a very good one on one defender with strong marking ability and the athleticism to compete in our shitshow of a system. Jones to FB and Keath to CHB is an absolute mile ahead of Keath/Gardner/O’Brien.

I really don’t care who but we need options, Gardner & O’Brien should not be in this side round 1.

Everywhere else is genuinely fine, we just need to sack our fitness & conditioning staff as it’s beyond a joke now, as well as go back to basics with the gameplan/defensive system, and stop picking ****ing ******s every week. Other than that the list is in top shape.

Unfortunately the last few things won’t happen, but long story short - keeping the list together is priority one, the rest of the changes (bar KPD) are off field based, and desperate.

I've said it previously but the one we missed out on was Collins when Freo deslisted him. Not sure if we had any conversations with him or not but i'm curious. He's the pillar in defence for GCS now.
I agree, he’s a gun. But he’s also slow. I honestly think if he came straight to the dogs he’d be a whipping boy and possibly even delisted.

Look at how he played, and had success, on Naughty after half time last week. Man on man, niggled off the ball and stopped his run and jump. Mostly illegally.

Now imagine what his role in our backline would be, stand 15m in front of Naughty with your back to him,
Don’t even think about bending the rules - just guard space and hope for a non existent turnover. Watch ball sail in over your head and have 10 kicked on you (or 5.5 maybe)

He’s slow and he’d get eaten alive in our backline.

Its a shame that the magic trade beans have turned to dust.

On to the next one.

So Dunks will have to unpack his bags then?

If they were packed, I blame his parents sneaking in while he was at training. Andrew also probably threw out the special gifts from Adz, causing the fallout and cancelled podcast.

In fact I reckon this conceding territory on the mark is Andrew Dunkley's fault too.

Glad that Whateley asked Bains about Young and Lipinski. Bains tried to justify by saying we offered them contracts but they wanted opportunity. The mismanagement of them sits with Bevo, particularly Young.
Agree with Young but can't get on board with Lipinski. Yes he is better than Scott, McComb, Hannan etc... but he is basically replicating his 2019 year with Collingwood but to more fanfare due to the fact he plays for the Pies. I don't see the role he could have played for us moving forward that could have satisfied his need to play midfield.
