Zero cap space. Plus gotta add Hewett and Walsh to that midfield. They are apparently going for Acres.

Hasn't stopped the Blues before.

Personally, I'm emotionally detached from Dunkley. I was as soon as he made that request to go to Essendon a few years back. If he goes, I just want to get the very best deal for us.

Went to the G to watch Blues and Pies, my dark horse idea is I reckon Carlton to do with Dunks. Pies game plan was to sit on Cripps to stife his burst out of middle. Another bull in there would help them
Blues definitely don’t need Dunkley. Hewett plays that role perfectly for them but it was just unfortunate that injuries stopped him at the end of the season. Kennedy will return as well.

I’d still say out of the Victorian clubs that Tigers would be the main threat. They have a very obvious hole in centre square that Dunks would fill and might have some cap room with Dusty, Cotchin, Riewoldt, Edwards & Lambert all close to moving on/finishing up/finished up.

Tigers are odds-on to get Taranto though. Hopper to Geelong, so that probably rules both those clubs out.
TBH I'd rather we increase our offer, cut the fat and work on him to stay. Even a two year deal to take him to FA

Let's hope it is Essendon. No coach, probably no CEO, clueless President, Sheedy a loose cannon, Board all over the place, no direction or leadership at all on field. Yeah, I would be comfortable that.
And Stringer as a teammate again 😀 Every cloud has a silver lining 🤣

And a long drive every day to the outskirts of Melbourne.

Tullamarine is Essendon's Seaford.

100% agree with this (up the ante), however can't see him taking a 2 year deal when other teams will have longer ones on the table. Unless we can show him that in 2 years our cap space will be much better for a long term end of career contract he's going to take the best offer in front of him.

I doubt he'd take a longer term offer with us with the FA window due. That will be a big payday as well

In the video of the players reacting to the Collingwood win they seem to really get around Dunks, in a ‘you didn’t play your last game for the Bulldogs today’ kind of way.

He’s gone.
What an odd take.

They'd just squeezed into the finals by relying on another team to make an heroic last gasp comeback and this is how you took their jubilation?

You're hammering your interpretation of a spontaneous celebration with a ****ing sledgehammer just to fit a narrative.

Nah the way he glanced sideways at that exact moment confirmed to me that he's signed a multi year contract with port adelaide.

Without Dunks we don't make finals

His last 2 months has been elite tier
Agree VD, he's had a very good season and amongst our best players consistently over the last 8 weeks and will poll well in the B&F (a very good chance to win it imo).

Disagree man, he glanced downwards which can only mean he signed with Essendon....

Yeah dunks has worked his way back into my must keep books, I’ve chopped and changed and tbh I still won’t lose sleep if he goes but I want to keep him, he’s been sooo good this year. Midfield dominance is our bread & butter let’s stick to that, although the fact we can’t cash in on our midfield is appalling coaching

I personally think that the Dunks contract will be on hold until we know if we can offload a couple on mid range coin.
12 months ago I thought I’d never day it but Hunter could be the one who can be replaced given Williams is playing some wing and Rourke contrary to most beliefs could also play that defensive wing.
The other wing has Smith/Ads.
If we can find a taker for Hunter that’s willing to take on full salary and with JJ exploring free agency, it will free up coin for Dunks and a bit for West.
Most interesting one is whether Keath want to keep going given he’s met the trigger for another year. He’s on some coin. Lots of juggling to be done by list managers if we want to also afford the like of a Logue.

Rich get richer eh? Ain't free agency grand? 🙄

If he was going to get us a Barass type then maybe do it, but he isn’t going to so we should keep.

This Adelaide fan should be drug tested 😂

2022 2nd + Rowe (if the rumours are true) for Dunkley
One can hope I guess. People from all clubs have an ability to over estimate their own players and underestimate everyone else. I my opinion Dunks is a better player the Cerra and he netted Freo 6 and change so by that, and taking into account that not all things come out equal, Dunks is worth a high first and extra. Adelaide will have pick 6 but that will be used for Rankin if he leaves, which I hope he doesn't for the Sun's sake. With that in mind they will have to use their 2023 first plus Rowe and prob pick swaps. Port's first would likely be in play but I don't think he will go to SA anyway but could be wrong. I think North, Richmond, Pies (if they get rid of Grundy), Hawks would be likely destinations with cap space and a role he can make his own.

The bigger issue I have is why a 25 year old star player approaching his prime wants to leave. Especially when he's played in two grannies and a flag in that short career.

If it's purely money then give him more money and cut a lot of the overpaid rubbish from the list. Who gives a stuff if you're technically overpaying him. Top load the list like it should be top loaded.

If it's another reason then the club needs to know what it is so they can address that too.

It's quite rare that prime midfielders who are just about to inherit large midfield minutes walk out the door in a consistent finals window.

Libba won't be around forever and dunks walks into that role.

I think Dunkey's back half of the year could win him the B&F. Also he is just adding dollars to any existing offer we have in front of him, hopefully that is all it takes for him to sign. Angus Brayshaw was almost ready to have a presser announcing his departure before he signed (Dees probably adding on an extra year), so it isn't over yet.

He is a massive US sports fan, and always talks about how much easier and accepted it is for them to switch teams. Money would be a factor, but i also think he would be looking to be the top dog wherever he ends up. Brisbane would be throwing the kitchen sink at him, and he already has a house in Noosa, so i think this is where he goes. Would walk in and almost take over as captain.

Completely irrelevant but who's the better player? Dunkley or Brayshaw (Dees). If Brayshaw can pull off a 7 year deal I think Dunks would be close to as deserving, and that's probably where he sees himself at.

I'm not saying give him a 7 year deal but he'll be getting that sort of interest elsehwere.

Bradshaw isn’t worth anywhere near 7 years on the sort of coin he’s on.

Neither is Dunkley
