100% it’s not family motivated at all. He’s been dating Tippah for what a year and he’s going to sign a 4-5 year contract interstate for her. He wanted to leave last time for money and it’ll be whatever club pays up the most this time
Last time it was an almost double your money offer. It doesn’t sound like the Lions and Port offers are massively more than ours.
For whatever reason he seems to just want a change of scene/challenge.

To say he played forward/ruck is a huge stretch. One of the games you’re talking about he took a throw in or two in the forward line and in the other he rucked part of a quarter. Would have to include Naughts, Bont and Dunkley if you’re counting that as forward/ruck.

Read what I wrote again. forward with pinch in the ruck

The other thing I've heard is that he doesn't get along with the core group of players. That's why he latched onto Treloar, who he'd never met, the first day he walked into the club.

I never got that. They travelled overseas together and looked like bffs before treloar came along. and then nothing? So weird.
If you remember 2020 was when Bont became captain.

Bont, as captain made a concerted effort not insulate himself to one or two individuals, rather giving himself to the whole group.

We all agree we have a very unbalanced team, with too many midfielders. We can’t afford to lose Libba, Bont’s untouchable, Treloar was one of our best in the GF last year, Bailey Smith is young and potential to be a star, McCrae is selfless. The rest of the midfield is still trying to cement a spot, Garcia, West et al.

It sucks losing Dunks, but we can and will cover him, and hopefully use the trade to straighten us up.

In Power we trust.

Why aren’t we pushing hard for Grundy? Trade Dunkley for Grundy (using a three way trade if necessary).

Grundy was one of the best ruckman in the AFL only 12 months ago. He’s 28 y/o and played 170 games. He is the perfect age profile for our midfield.

If we get 5 years out of Grundy, then Darcy will be ready to take the mantle. English is a second ruck, forward and can play like a midfielder.

Don’t tell me we can’t fit Grundy into our salary cap. If we trade JJ and Dunkley, that’s got to free up $1m surely?

Sometimes, in life, a problem will present an opportunity.

Our list is midfield top heavy, let’s rectify the problem by trading a midfielder (who is arguably not even in our top three midfielders) for a quality ruckman or KPD. Our list is screaming out for it.

Dunkley out presents more opportunity for West in the middle. Perhaps with a decent ruckman, we can improve our defensive stoppage game.

Beveridge never really adapted to the AFL changes to prohibit third man up and 6-6-6. Both of these rule changes emphasise the need for a quality ruckman. You can rightly argue that we were a bees whisker (probably 2 goals away) from winning the 2021 GF in the third quarter, but that doesn’t change the fact that we have underperformed in every other season from 2017 to 2022.

Not only is our midfield top heavy but we have a questionable ruck servicing them. I'm well onboard the Grundy train and wish we'd make a play for him, if you asked us at the start of 2021 ''If you had your choice of Grundy or Martin'' I'd suggest 99% of this board would want Grundy, now his on the market and we could make a play for him we're not?

We chased Soldo last year and almost had his signature until talks broke down at the last minute, hence why we kept Martin on one year longer then we should have, it's clear the club see's this as a problem, so why we aren't in the race for Grundy I don't know.

Really hope this whole ''English wants to be number 1 ruck and never a forward'' shit his manager spewed isn't putting us over a barrel, because it feels like it is.

Makes far too much sense for our club.

If Bailey Smith does not fix his disposal by foot he will be just another midfielder on the field.

Dunkley although I would want to keep I still think his disposal by foot is a real issue and that’s why I wouldn’t be paying too much to keep him.

The quickest way to move the footy is clean disposal by foot and ALL our players need to improve in that area.

I was at the Freo game on the weekend and I watched Lobb closely, it wouldn't have mattered who was playing as a key forward for Freo they would have struggled. The ball movement was painfully slow and when they did get a chance to kick to Lobb it generally wasn't close to his advantage. Most likely next year if Lobb comes he would be getting the third tall and he becomes a role player in the forward line rather than the main man.
Sounds like how we move the ball into the fwd line

I have a feeling given how quiet it is someone like the bombers has a huge contract in front of him. There is no way Hopper and Taranto get 7 year 700k contracts and he's only get 600-650 for 4 years.
