Maybe if we rehired McCartney and he changes his name to Lobbe pick 11 would be on the table again. I still shudder thinking about that offer

Oliver Gigacz do you have long duration Time on Ground data?
I was interested to see Lobb played 100% ToG in both finals (only Freo player week 1, and one of two in week 2) so interested to know if this is a long term pattern across his career or reflected a structural need for Freo.
If he can play huge ToG numbers while second-ruck that provides a lot of other rotation flexibility to the team. If these weeks / this year was an aberration then he could improve if he can get a more optimal 80%-90% level going forward.
Or like this year they'll just kick it over our backline's head in transition or find a wealth of really easy, open targets on the lead.Playing Norty back would force teams to play around him like McGovern at his peak with Weagles. Huge weapon.

Excuse the intrusion, but I thought the dogs would be massively interested in Logue rather than Lobb. I know Jones has been linked but Logue would be a great get.
PS: Bont was absolutely robbed for the Brownlow last season. IMO was easily best player in the comp.
If JMac was still our list manager then pick 11 no questions asked.Points system isnt a perfect guide to anything but...
2018 Rory Lobb Trade
GWS give
Lobb
Pick 14 (1161 points)
Pick 43 (378 points)
Pick 47 points (316 points)
Total Lobb + 1855 points
Fremantle give
Pick 11 (1329 points)
Pick 19 (948 points)
Total 2277 points
Value of trade is 422 points to GWS for Lobb
Approx value, pick 40
This was when he was about 25 years old.
If we cough up a first rounder for this guy our list management team should be sacked
Lobb fits the ruck/2nd fwd role that we desperately need filled. Gives a chop out to a few guys and allows Darcy to develop etc. He makes sense if we’re to contend short-term.Excuse the intrusion, but I thought the dogs would be massively interested in Logue rather than Lobb. Thanks - that's a very real structural benefit I hadn't been factoring in and something Sam Darcy definitely wouldn't be providing in the short-medium term (both fitness and injury management) particularly if he had to do more of his minutes in the ruck vs. deep forward. He’s had 100% TOG at least half of his games the last 3 seasons and is usually ~95% the other games.
This is the thing, we talk about our midfield but when you have games like on the weekend when we sent 70% of our inside 50s to ‘no target’ that’s not a ball use issue. You can be the worst kick in the world and miss your target but at least direct it towards someone. We're all very critical of our midfield delivery into the forward line, but on occasion this year (with very little time to decide) they looked up to see Naughton and JUH in each others space, and other times they looked up to see Hannan or Khamis as the tallest target. We don't make it easy for them.
If we give up a first for him I'll hand back my membershipPoints system isnt a perfect guide to anything but...

We really need a genuine pressure forward, West & Cody provide good pressure & are strong tacklers and they also provide marking targets for smalls and Cody especially can hit the scoreboard in a big way. Naughty, Lobb & Jamarra also provide firepower, so I don’t think we need another small who necessarily hits the scoreboard and provides a marking target but a genuine specialist pressure forward would be perfect.
Rowe ain’t it, he provides just over a tackle a game & 9 PAs (and barely hits the scoreboard anyway)
Who else could we target? So long as they’re not a genuine ball butcherer & can use the pill when they’ve got it (so VDM & McComb are out) but mainly just apply a *load of pressure

Our forward line just doesn’t provide targets worth directing a kick too.
I know you share a similar thought process that I do on structure. I primarily blame the revolving door of selection rather than our personel up forward (particularly key targets). Injuries obviously to Bruce and Darcy didn't help.
I mean we go into a final with a trio of Naughton, Darcy, Jamarra who barely have played 1/2 half of senior footy together. We couldn't just get any continuity. One week its Schache, the next cordy, then jamarra is out, then bruce is back in.
I know we have the targets. Preseason 2021 we have a clear plan with Naughton and Bruce as the two tall forwards and English as the 2nd ruck/forward. It's the best we have ever looked. Even Bruce and Naughton took one whole season to gel. 2020 for them didn't work. Then it 2021 they developed great chemistry.
This football club needs to decide from day dot of preseason who the combination will be and what we will stick to. Not Bev's "spin the magnets" philosophy.
How does Dev Robertson compare to Lobb value wise? He's a WA boy who fits what Freo need to add to their midfield but will be pushed down the pecking order by Dunkley, Ashcroft and Fletcher.I don’t see how Dunkley gets to Brisbane unless the Lions involve a player and Power would be all over this. There’ll be some Victorian wanting to come home if pressed.
Making a key contender stronger and then getting a future 1st makes no sense for us.
I effectively see Lobb as a salary dump for Freo. 3rd rounder or GTFO
Geez, Freo easily win that deal don’t they? How does Dev Robertson compare to Lobb value wise? He's a WA boy who fits what Freo need to add to their midfield but will be pushed down the pecking order by Dunkley, Ashcroft and Fletcher.
Just a possible solution, could see something like:
Leaves Brisbane with Pick #29, Pick #33, Pick #34 (McStay compensation), Pick #37, Pick #44, Pick #69 which is 2652 points. Some picks will push out based on free agency but then some will move up (and points increase) as the earlier picks are wiped out for Ashcroft. Leaves them about 480 points short if the Fletcher bid comes in at pick #20. They could probably trade pick #29 and pick #69 to the Pies for picks #42, #47, #48 which nets them a bit over 300 points and do a few other moves or just take a small deficit against their 2023 2R. Lohmann is the obvious one to include if its to come to us. The big issue will be how many list spots Brisbane have open to hoard picks.
- Freo: Lobb + Pick #13 (out) for Pick #11 + Robertson (in)
- Brisbane: Robertson + Pick#15 + 2023 R1 (out) for Dunkley + Pick #29 + Pick #37 (in)
- Dogs: Dunkley + Pick #11 + Pick #29 + Pick #37 (out) for Lobb + Pick #13 + Pick #15 + 2023 R1 (in)
What do you think Dev Robertson is worth? He was pick #22 in 2019 and notwithstanding he's broken back into the team, he's played 1 game (2020), 16 games (2021) and 7 games (2022). I would think he's worth slightly less than Lobb and so Freo get a small pick upgrade from pick #13 to pick #11.Geez, Freo easily win that deal don’t they?
That’s very well thought out…but Im guessing we want something more immediate for Dunks, albeit that lands Lobb, but we’d get him cheap anyway.
I think we should be more aggressive with the Dunkley deal, see if we can pry something really bloody good from the Lions with Dunks + future 1st.
With the knives coming our way!!!!If JMac was still our list manager then pick 11 no questions asked.
since we have Sammy Power, I reckon it will be pick 52 and a set of steak knives
