What do you think Dev Robertson is worth? He was pick #22 in 2019 and notwithstanding he's broken back into the team, he's played 1 game (2020), 16 games (2021) and 7 games (2022). I would think he's worth slightly less than Lobb and so Freo get a small pick upgrade from pick #13 to pick #11.
Late 2nd/early 3rd, he and Lobb about the same I’d suspect at a rough guess.

Excuse the intrusion, but I thought the dogs would be massively interested in Logue rather than Lobb. I know Jones has been linked but Logue would be a great get.

PS: Bont was absolutely robbed for the Brownlow last season. IMO was easily best player in the comp.
Lobb's a direct need, filling a role and taking his market worth directly related to his output. We were rucking Cordy for games this year, Darcy needs to develop. People were critical of the money that we paid to a relatively unproven Alex Keath. But we clearly had a weakness (Jackson Trengove playing the majority of 2019 and ... not great, to say the least) and yet the 3+1 trigger contract for similar money clearly paid off for Keath. Keath finished 6th in our best and fairest for each of the last two years, and non-Dogs fans don't really give him the credence for the club recognising him being only marginally below the three or four gun mids and one or two half-backs we've had in the last couple of years, and how his injuries and loss of form this year was a direct contributor to a defence falling off a cliff.

We're hoping Lobb can do something similar - proven AFL output in the year that we recruit him, pay him a slightly better contract but sell him more on the idea that we have a specific role that he can fill, and his output will improve with that defined role.

Logue's a completely different kettle of fish. You're paying for expected future output and potential, not to construct a team with understanding how players will fill into defined roles. The last time we did that was in 2017 when we went after Schache and Crozier. But the last 4 off-seasons, we've stayed away from that tactic.

The best our forward line has functioned under beveridge was rd 1-6 (2021) with Naughton, Bruce and English as the tall forwards.

3 talls are fine but they need chemistry and continuity. We got none of that in 2022 apart from Naughton being the lone hand.

Spot on. That was the best our forward line looked for a long long time. I was thinking at the time we were a massive chance for the flag.

Our forward line never really looked the same again after the English concussion and then the Bruce ACL.

When you think about it, we actually did well to make the GF. I’m convinced that had the Dees suffered similar set backs, we could easily have won that flag. But I digress…😢

If these didn’t happen, we would have shat it in

Dunkley quoted in the Herald Sun saying he’ll make his decision in the next week. So I don’t think we’ll get a decision any time soon.

The one thing I can’t get my head around is he is obviously very big at marketing himself (story was a fluff piece about taking his girlfriend to the Brownlow), those marketing opportunities are going to be significantly smaller in Brisbane or Adelaide compared to Melbourne.

Lobb has had one good year in his entire career. It is the most obvious case in history of a player overperforming in a contract year. The extra motivation of trying to get a decent deal from a Melbourne club has worked wonders. Now we are the suckers who are going to give him his cushy retirement contract, so he can relax and put his feet up for a few years.

I might be alone in this but I still don't think he's gone. He's close, but not gone.

The big question is, who will step up to become Adam Treloar’s new bestie and offsider on his podcast? 🤔

Two-year deal for Rhylee West, so you can stop stressing over that one.

Except next year would have been his contract year.

My thoughts were that he'd be looking to be a teams number one star midfielder and potentially get himself a Brownlow. Probably no more likely playing alongside Neale than he is alongside Bont.

i still want him, but i agree with you, Lobb's 2022 season reeks of Jake Stringer 2021

One thing is probably certain, if he does leave, the deal for picks/ players would already be negotiated to avoid the essendon fiasco, wont stop the media speculation and false reports of us wanting this and them wanting that, it will still get dragged out

Yep. Think it’s extremely likely that’s what’s happening right now

We can't have a forward line of Lobb, Darcy, Marra and send Naughts back. Lobb/Darcy provide little pressure as a forward whereas Naughts provides it in spades. Darcy back is the more logical move as it's easier to develop in if we add Jones and have Gardner as the 2nd he can be that inteceptor we are lacking as Jones/Gardner are actually both decent 1 on 1 and with better pressure up the ground won't be exposed however we don't have this with Lobb/Darcy up forward.

Do the team that Dunkley has chosen know the player we want back the other way?

IF it’s Power or Bombers, they do.
IF it’s the Lions* or Cats, they don’t.

Our recruiting team are sure they have someone…. Just hoping that Power can close the deal.

*My tip is the Lions and I have no news on who the player we are targeting is.

It’s hard to find a Cyril Rioli type these days. Before Castagna was a dud this season, his fwd pressure was great. Could come cheaply?
Draft one. There are always a few floating around in WA but we often avoid them as they aren't nice white bread APS kids.

We went for Payne last year so no reason we wouldn't ask the question again.
Adams might be cooked and Payne's under contract now so they will probably turn us down.

Who is it if Power or Bombers? Bergman my guess at Power

Should have been a first rounder, invited to the first night of the draft but was the only player not selected.
I'd say late first. The kid can play

Your intel is the Dunkley trade involves a player coming our way? And a pick or like for like?
