The easiest way to facilitate this is to ask around to see if any other teams might be interested in any Brisbane players, and then get that team's pick in a three way swap. North to offer a seven year contract to Wilmot?

Issue with that strategy is that I don't think Brisbane's depth is that good, their lack of injuries last few years means that many of their players are untested, and such depth as exposed on the weekend with the likes of Answerth and Robertson looking not great vs. Geelong.

Still, if they don't have the draft picks looking forward, they have the draft picks looking backward - Wilmot and Lohmann were both picks 15-20 last year. Assuming that their value is roughly equivalent to the draft pick they were drafted with after only one year in the league, adding them to a future first is roughly Dunkley's value imo

We hold all the cards, if they want him they will have to give up what he is worth. They need to decided on Dunkley or Ashcroft. Otherwise, trade him somewhere else.
No they don't. They can go into a points deficit next year after matching bids for Ashcroft and Fletcher

AFL don't work like that. We don't hold any cards here.

Only cards we hold are not dealing and he goes PSD draft and we get nothing.

My trade values him at around pick 10-11 which i would say is slight unders
Yeah and Brisbane won’t get him either, as Hawthorn, North Melbourne and Essendon would pounce.

We can say what we want, but it doesn't work like that. We can't trade him to GC without him agreeing to a trade there

We can still use it as leverage to push the lions harder. I mean even negotiating with port who had an offer there also.

I understand he probs won’t agree to the coast but we still can use it to push him.

If the Lions are targeting players like Dunkley who will still require a pretty decent trade package while they have bidding for Ashcroft etc this year, they are going to have to look at moving on some players with value also like Lohmann, Dev Robertson etc...

I’ve felt for a while that what the dogs are missing is a real barometer. Thoughts?

Edit: I thought I was on the trade board thread, apologies!

Amazing how many people don’t seem to comprehend that!

its the emotion, plain and simple.

He will get to the lions and the dogs will be well compensated for it.

This talk of mccluggage, bailey in a trade etc... is just pie in the sky stuff.

The dogs will make it work in their best interests from here as they should.

Feel like we should reset and build from defence - we’ve been bits and piecing it together since Bevo arrived.

Feel like it’s easier to make shift the forward line (which we do anyway bar naughton)

Won’t happen but naughton and Jones should be pairing round 1 in defence with the best of Gardiner or keath based on off season form.

Get west into the midfield more.

Lobb to support English.

JUH and weightman should lift with another pre season and try trade or draft for a specialist medium forward in the Hayward or membrey type.

The way I feel this time around tells me all I need to know. I.e. no attachment to Dunkley whatsoever. Just hoping for the best deal possible now that we can use to improve the list.

I feel the same. I’m honestly not even upset about this which goes to show the attachment a lot of us have to him.

Business transactions only here.

Did we all hear the sound of Treloar's heart breaking when the announcement came out?

Nah, only Dogs Rule's :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

you are spot on go the dogs.

Both clubs will act in good faith, they always do, except essendon, they are a rabble lol

Personally think this is a great result if we can strengthen the backline. I said it 2 years ago, I wish he'd gone then.
I agree. But ... it is VITAL that we DO strengthen the backline through this trade and not just get some running half backs or Cordy/Gardiner sized players but a strong KPD.

Here's hoping it doesn't go down like the Stringer trade and we end up with Josh Schache again to save face

After the failed bomber trade 2years ago surely Dunkley and Pickering has done his due diligence to ensure they can satisfy us.

Power can play hard ball here and if the Lions cannot come up with the goods other options need to be explored. Dunkley will not want to go to the preseason draft.

lots of rumours about how professional our players and coaches are. There are no doubt issues at the club and Bonts video and then the President message validates this to an extent. Let’s hope we get a decent KPD and a good draft hand from this. Happy for Hunter to go, his disposal justs cancels out his good infield traits.
