Talking to my brother yesterday and one of his mates owns a butcher shop in Ballarat, mad dogs supporter. Chris Maple comes into the shop all the time and they are friends.
* Maple wasn't pushed out the door, felt is was time for a change, so took an offer to coach Ballarat.
*Lobb is do or die for them. They will do it what it takes to get him and Maple pretty certain he will be at the Dogs next season.
  • Bev really considering playing Naughton in the backline again. Not set in stone he will continue to play forward.
  • Guys playing with Jones at Currumbin were amazed at how professional and how good he was. Desperate to play AFL again.
  • Marra very easy to coach. Didn't sulk when he got dropped, went to training and took it on the chin. Doesn't expect any favours being the no.1 draft pick.
  • Players, coaches from other clubs already worried about Darcy. Players from other sides cant believe how good he is for someone who hasn't had a full pre season.
Yep, Maple mainly moved back to Ballarat for family reasons, thanks for sharing all of those titbits too.

I like this part the most. It can also be changed to include “the kid also spent half the season injured”

We’re going to overpay for Lobb aren’t we?

What I took from the game was how easy the game looks when you've got skilful, mobile running talls who provide an outlet from kickins and a suffocating press coming back the other way. It makes the game look simple. Mark, kick to your lively forwards or handball to a mid running past.

Who have we got to provide something similar ?We've got Bailey Dale and Williams. Neither are tall and one is out of form.

I was looking at the game yesterday thinking Gards could never provide that service and he's scarily close to becoming our No 1 back.

Edits to add : can't forget tim english and the bont

Sam Power will pay an acceptable price, as he usually does.

Freo will cave, if he wants to move to Melbourne they can hold him to his contract, but why keep someone that isn’t buying in?

I've got this feeling it's largely agreed upon but waiting on the Jackson deal to be done first so whatever assets we give up don't get demanded/taken by the dees.

Absolute gem of a 2nd round find.
I'm really keen to take two first rounders (Brisbane's as part of Dunkley deal) and a 2nd round to draft.

Realistically, we're a draft & develop club so getting players who can help is great, but we should be looking to keep our picks at the pointy end of the draft.
We shouldn’t have driven out the man who picked Warner, and had more say in our premiership than any other person, Bevo included

It’s all posturing… Everyone knows he’s coming to the dogs they’re not going to just hand him over to free to us it’s a basic tactic to get as much as they can for him

I shall wait and see how we go , but it does seem the club is somewhat panicked in now trying to bolster our defensive end.
It is somewhat frustrating considering 90% of us on this board could see this to be an issue for a number of years now, and especially after GF last year .
But Bev saw a need to collect a gaggle of mids !
McComb the latest real head scratcher.
Surely we had to try our luck on a developing or mature age tall back at that pick ?

That would make far too much sense especially when there’s a vanilla Footscray mid available

"Driven out?"

He was poached.

Lachie Sullivan anyone?
I wouldn't mind us considering Garner late as a rookie spot, if we are considering Footscray VFL players.
