Haven't seen the whole game but Hynes and Dolan have looked terrific. Dolan has a very high footy IQ. Can't wait for him to get through puberty.

Hynes has done some classy things as well. Fortunately he's already a solid kid.

I expect both will play a lot of senior footy next year.

yep, he and Gunston were done, couldnt put their socks on apparently. crazy. Hope we give Jones a last chance. Fair enough he might be depth but better than playing Gardner as last resort. He deserves that at least.

Agree, to keeping Liam jones, his skill and on field coaching would be worth the money( as well as break glass kpd). Noted on here somewhere that Busslinger said how good jones has been for his development.

Agree. He still looks capable at VFL level but the speed of the game has passed him by and he tends to go to ground too often in recent AFL games.

Croft looked very very good as back up ruck against Reeves. Very athletic and jumps all over the top of the lumbering ruckman.

He’ll be a very exciting second ruck at AFL level once he gains more strength.

It's sad but thankfully we gave him the perfect contract. Another year and we would've had a bit of an issue.

If the ruck rule changes so for centre bounces the rucks have to run/jump into eachother I wouldn’t be surprised if Croft does it more than Sam to protect Sam a bit

Quite a few were scrap heap though Chol 3rd club Mass mid season not getting a game Ginnivan troubled star (said we needed him was laughed at) Gunston couldn’t get a game with his failed Brisbane move Scrimshaw struggling at GC Meek stuck behind 2 better rucks

What's your point? That's even better recruiting then. They got even bigger bargains and could very well win a flag with them in two weeks time. Moneyball works.

Wilkie sitting there waiting to see what happens with his contract, and Windhager and Marshall. We can’t wait around forever.

If Wilkie is happy to roll the dice with waiting on the Saints to play ball with him then so be it, let him run that risk and press on with the pursuit of the Buttman.

I’ve watched Budarick pretty closely tonight. He seems like an ok player but not really what we’re looking for. He’s super short so I don’t really think he has the range to be a very good defender. He’s played a bit of a defensive half forward role tonight, can run pretty well and looks to use it okay but doesn’t excite me.

Saw some really good things today from Sellwood, Buss and Jaques.

If we can get Wilkie and/or Butts that would be nice but I think there’s plenty of internal improvement to come from Buss and JOD. Lobb hopefully has another year of solid service.

I’d ponder putting Truck back next year permanently as he is a sound defender.

One thing in Budarick’s favour is experience. We averaged ~10 players under 50 games per game this year. The 4th most sub-50 gamers of any team this year, with the 3 teams above us being bottom 4 sides. We need a better spread of experience in our side if we want a stronger overall team, especially in our role players. Budarick is far from a star but I’m quite confident we’d be better with him in the side next year, even if we expect someone like Sellwood eventually overtakes him

VDM was drafted as a defender, and I remember watching him in his draft year and thinking his rebound running reminded me of JJ. I’d rather try that than write him off entirely, but definitely would rather Arty in his spot from next year

Gunston’s turnaround really was a 0.0001 chance of happening. Was ready for the woodshed after Brissy.

Reckon either would be worth a shot as a small defender or tagger? VDM is quick, a natural pest and has a massive tank so could see him being successful as a tagger.

So he should play firsts if we can put him in a position where he doesn’t get the ball ?

He is a poor tackler and isn’t good one on one. Further Bevo doesn’t usually assign taggers.
