Love the fact his manager wants to negotiate a pay out. We should pay absolutely nothing. He has more to lose than we do if he sits on our list and out of football for another year. His career would be over. After a year of paying him to do nothing, and the bad blood which has developed, feel pretty confident Power won’t pay a cent.

Not a cent and I'll be furious if the club agrees to pay anything. Pack his bags and p*** him off and while he's at it, if he wants a career to last more than the next 12 months, maybe get some new managers. You know, ones that might actually guide you and help you avoid bad choices.

Think the clubs been amazing in this whole Jamarra saga but Jesus it’s incredibly disappointing and frustrating that he’s going to be at another afl club so soon after having a breakout season.
Feels like we are pushing him out though, not like it makes it any better. But Marra seemed like he wanted to stay & we just want him out at all costs. Even if we aren’t getting a good return on investment.

Can guarantee the Dogs paid very little to JUH last year. The negotiation between Dogs and AFL regarding JUH saw the AFL take on payments this was to keep the Dogs from taking JUH and his management to court for breach of contract. It was settled that his money would still be shown under salary cap but the dogs wouldn't be held accountable for the money. AFL keen to keep it out of courts so that everything JUH was up to wouldn't be made public knowledge and bring the entire league into disrepute.

You can access the article if anyone is interested hope the club tells them were to go and we are not paying a cent

His manager, Robbie D’Orazio, will now negotiate a payout with the Bulldogs, but it remains unclear how much, if any, the Dogs would be willing to pay.

It's fascinating that McLure bookends his article with the flawed premises that Jamarra is about to "rejuvenate his career" as if it's a fait accompli. And Craig Cameron singing the ol' getting away from the Melbourne football bubble trope that all clubs sing for all recalcintrant players. As if the influences that dragged him down to a point where he had to go to the last chance saloon respected state borders or weren't existent on the Gold Coast. Indeed anybody who's ever had the misfortune of living on or visiting the Gold Coast understands that its the retirement destination of choice of many of the Southern states criminal identities.

When in reality it is what it was always going to be. An opportunist club swooping in on a hugely talented player at the knock down price of **** all. Safe in the knowledge that they have enough KPF stocks a to buffer themselves if it all goes campaigner up.

Because of course, apparently the Gold Coast exists outside of all time, space and distopian Melbourne football bubble.

Ive been as big a supporter of Jamarra this past 12 months as anybody on this board. But Ive long passed the point now and I really couldn't care less about what we get in return. They offer pick 100. Id say deal. I long ago accepted that we'd get hosed if he decided to leave given his actions of the past year.

My only concern now is that we don't pay him another cent when he's doing his thing on the Gold Coast.

thats pretty much semantics. The AFL covers all player payments anyway.

Scenario 1 - $900k goes from AFL -> Dogs -> Jamarra
Scenario 2 - $900k goes AFL -> Jamarra

Some serious over valuing of Buku given he has yet to crack 50 games in 7 seasons and got overtaken as a forward by Croft in his second game.
Don’t know about this. It all depends on your given list at a given point in time. He would absolutely be a regular in a number of other teams. It’s just that his attributes are not what we need and just because Croft has seemingly overtaken him doesn’t mean he’s not a regular best 22 on another list. I’d say if we had manic small forwards, his lack of ground ball ability would be less of an issue.

Day 4 and no news of on a bunch of players trade requests. Especially Mackenzie, Hustwaite, Butler, Seamus Mitchell, Hobbs, Phillips, Hollands, Steele, etc...

Butler is staying at Hawks, very likely Steele stays aswell unless Merrett goes. Mitchell likely as a DFA.

I'd honestly ask the question of any of the first four there, damaging players at Box Hill who can't break into a stacked Hawks midfield. Hustwaite in particular is a physical beast and Butler is pretty good coming off of a flank.

Ive always liked Hustwaite i think he has the potential to be like Ned Long and hit the ground running at a second club. I feel like the Hawks were too focused on the lack of pace with both of them.
Now Worpel has gone though there could be a more natural spot for him.

Huh? Tell me you don’t know how TPP works without telling me. Clubs allocate the cash to players via a contract. The AFL pay it. It doesn’t come out of our club budget so your scenario is of zero benefit to any party.

Hustwaite, Butler and Mackenzie would all get a game with some AFL teams. Hustwaite is a strong 195cm midfielder who wins a lot of ball around stoppages. Mackenzie is 188cm and quicker than Hustwaite. He played 20 senior games in 2024 averaging 16.5 disposals. Both are only 21 and for a club looking for midfield depth they offer a lot.
