I’d rather keep him than let him go for pick 40
Agree, we’d get the same pick or better in a better draft as compensation if he leaves as a free agent next year. If he’s in the VFL all year he’ll kick 40-50 goals and get a contact that justifies that compensation, while still being very valuable backup for a Naughton or Darcy injury. Pick 22 is too high, but they’ll come up with something trading down for points to match on Dean.

Well looks like our history of hanging onto to players a year too late and trading them at their lowest value will continue :'(

I'm a big Sam Power fan but we really have lost some assets for little return of late.

Relax. There is NO proof that Sanders even wants out. Even then we can't just TRADE people. It was a pissy take by a "journalist", saying that Adelaide asked about someone. Literally something all clubs do about many players in the league and our fans are overreacting. How ground breaking.

Also remember, we wanted more for Smith and Dunkley. But no one wanted to pay it, so we were always going to get less regardless the posturing, and no one wanted Jamarra last year. Can't blame the club for those. Not like we have a crystal ball for the future either. Hindsight is an easy cop out.

And I am on the keep Sanders bandwagon. Trading him out because he doesn't look like the next Bont, when our midfield are old as f**k. Will set us back again, unless we got Butters. Even then I'd keep him given we'd have zero first round picks for the next 100 years and no access to the top tier mids once TAS comes in and takes them all. It will be the 2030s before we get a decent first round draft pick again.

We will need to start drafting like Geelong and finding late round gems to keep being competitive the next few years.

Who cares if he doesn't look like being an A grader. He will still be a clear cut best 22 player at worst and that's all we need. Not his fault we have barely played him in his position of strength since we drafted him. Richards looked like an even worst bust in his first few seasons playing forward, and took time to break out once moved back to the back line.

The amount of lack of patience from our fans, and lack of respect for the fact that no development rate is the same regardless of the round you were drafted in is astounding at times. Half of decent current players would have been delisted years ago if fans had their way.

Just pointing out that if we lose Khamis and Ugle-Hagan, after delisting Jones, legitimately the only VFL key position player on our list will be Gardner and whomever we draft. We desperately just need some depth ready to roll (even forwards!)
Derksen wouldn’t be the worst pick up. Depth at either end, effectively replaces Buku. Might even be able to get him as a DFA

I don’t think Jones and Khamis are any better than Gardner in defence (in 2026).

Khamis is pretty good up forward and I wouldn’t mind keeping him in case Naughton or Darcy goes down, as he’s better than Croft at this stage.

I tend to agree. I’d almost he saying sorry Buku, a mid range pick is doing nothing for us and we actually require you on the list.

I get that they might try and do right by him but unfortunately that’s what happens when you sign a contract.

Wasn’t a knock on quality of Gardner. Was pointing out that A) our VFL side is going to be out of whack a bit, and B) if any of our big guys get injured we are screwed. No other club banks on one bloke on their list as depth at both ends of the ground. We need another couple up each end, preferably with one of those experienced or mature enough that they are ready to play when the inevitable injury strikes.

We simply can’t let Buku go for pick 40, it doesn’t benefit us in any way. Unless we find another backup kpp we haven’t been linked to yet we’d find ourselves in a position where we’re two injuries to talls away from having to play guys like Coffield and Hynes as makeshift talls.

We’d end up getting similar value next year anyway and even if it’s less we’re still better off for having him on the list the extra year.

Khamis is surely gone.
He wants out. He looked mentally checked out in his last couple of VFL games.

We couldn't find a regular spot for him in 2025 and certainly can't guarantee him one in 2026. He is a handy marking option up forward and a good set shot. But we already have Naughton and Darcy as marking talls, West as a crumber. And we are trying to squeeze others in the forward line like Croft, Hynes, Dolan, Sanders, Garcia and a returning Weightman. Maybe even Walker? On top of the perennials, VDM and McNeil.

Khamis doesn't fix any of our defensive shortcomings either.

He's entitled to seek a club where he thinks he'll get a regular game. Whether we get pick 30 or pick 40 is immaterial. He is small change in the grand scheme of the draft and trades. He'll go with our thanks and our blessing for being a great team member in his 6 or 7 seasons with us. I'm sorry to see him go but it's the right move for both parties.

What happens next season if Lobb or JOD get a long a term injury if we do not pick up another tall defender in the trade. That is why I can see us picking up some one like a Frost. Better still rookie list Liam Jones.

Wasn’t it mentioned that our asking price for Khamis is their Silvagni comp which is pick 22. End of first round is certainly overs but that’s what is needed to land a contracted player that has shown his value of playing both ends.
That was me and it is still the required deal as far as the dogs are concerned although not outright.

21 for Khamis and 32 which values Khamis at pick 36.

Pick placement doesn't matter to Carlton anyway only points given they need to match Dean and Ison in the top 15 and 40 respectively.

Zac Walker, Will Darcy.

Yep our problem isn't developing KPDs (we also have JOD & Buss learning the trade), it's mature ready to go KPDs.

Once all the bids come in will that pick be in the 25+ range?

I rate frost and serong. For me they are both no brainers.

Pretty sure that involves Khamis PLUS our second.
