Hey sorry if i'm a little clueless, but I was just wondering why Acres was being mentioned? Is there any reason to think he might be interested in returning home? Or all just speculation?

see your point and the only way i see us parting with acres would be for a late first early 2nd

i love lamb, but its hard to place what our recruiters think

We traded pick 17 for a contracted Redden last year . Redden had shown much more at afl level than acres .
The fact that he can't cement a spot in a bottom 6 team in his 3rd year shows their is issues .
Can't see how he is worth a late first or even early second .
Acres may have potential to be a good player in the future but so does lamb and I doubt we would even get a second for lamb .
Potential only goes so far and I think the fact you want to offload acres contracted or not mean he may end up being a bust a good VFL player at best .

just pure speculation, he is one that hasnt come on as quick as i had hoped. so its just my opinion that he's one i'd look at trading

i can understand that. i'm a big advocate on lamb and would love him at the saints. however, lamb is not at the same market value as acres IMO

acres was a pick 19 player compared to lamb who was taken at pick 32. acres has also played a lot more senior football and i dare say has a better form line in the VFL having followed lambs progress closely, albeit slightly different players in that lamb is better in a KPF role than acres, but acres performs better in the midfield. lamb is out of contract, whilst acres is still wrapped up in a contract for another 2 seasons.

Freo don't have a 2nd rounder and we would only trade a high pick for a best 22 player . He is worth more than lamb for sure but I don't see anyone putting up what he is worth to you .

the thing i wouldnt discount is a trade to another melb based team. from what ive heard from acres himself and his family he enjoys melbourne, loves the life style, has a melb gf. he's settled in pretty nicely. i wouldnt rule out the impact of future picks either here, something we saw at the saints with the freeman trade

the going rate for gaff, our first and acres would be near to it, maybe some steak knives coming back our way, but we're not talking sheep stations here. personally i think gaff is too important to wce to let go, he's arguably the best wingman in the comp right now and i dont think gaff is suited to st kilda just yet. we have more pressing issues on the inside right now. throwing in gaff into st kilda would probably just hurt gaffs performance

he does play on the ball in the VFL but when called up seems to play on the outside

You have had the poor timing to rebuild through the compromised drafts . We have a big hole in our list as well in that age bracket Our 2012-13 drafts were pathetic lucky we had a couple of good trades and we did get Hutchins .
You also traded out a fair bit of experience which may have fast tracked your list but without those extra leaders slowed their development .

Yeah but we have Nelson / Duggan / Mutimer / Partington / Cole / Adamson / Waterman ?? that could all come on with opportunity, you cant keep drafting midfielders..... Goodard would be a key signing that would help our midfielders, you could play Lycett as a forward.

Adding to the youth i named we also have Redden / Sheed / Hutchings / Masten and Yeo that are young and will be around for a while. If we keep stockpiling midfielders then a percentage will end up playing reserves WAFL.

It's not about quantity it's about quality and type. A top line midfield talent would be jumped at from a draft perspective because you can build teams around such players with those as you've listed above.

Same goes for tall forwards. There is no real need for us to take a tall Forward at the moment unless a quality one presents it to us, because ultimately we can chop and change our setup and move McGovern forward if need be.

The most pressing needs for our list at the end of this year is reliable fast ball movers, big contested ball winners and smalls with goal kicking ability.

I'm referring to Ruckman this draft not KPP , could be an opportunity to secure Goddard at # 12-15 this draft .....an opportunity for us at that range , just need to develop those midfielders as some of them have talent and Redden needs to step up hopefully .

Ruckmen are KPP's.

But I'd scale our need for a third ruck as lower than our need for a high quality mid or top end tall forward.

While our drafts had been done reasonably well, it could be done better by looking into the NT players in more details. There are a lot of speedy/skillful raw talent from that region. It is worth getting a couple as rookie for long term development. For example, Nakia Cockatoo was ignored in 2013 and in 2014, he was too in demand for the Eagles‘ 11 pick.
Hope we get some good ones from NT this year.

brad is a gun but injury prone.

Brad Couch's first few years were very good. Was one of the best upcoming talents i remember he had a 40 possession game against the Hawks and half of them were contested.

Then the injuries hit had a similar foot injury to Selwood for some time

Hasn't been able to get going again really

I think he's would be worth the risk providing we dont pay too much.
Can't see Adelaide giving him away though they still rate him pretty highly and know what he is capable of...
