ok it is safe to say we wont be winning more than 5 games this season so a priorty pick or 2 is in the making.

Would you lot trade the Priority pick and our next trade (2 trades overall) & a player like Mark McVeigh for Chris Judd at seasons end ?

I would certainly think about it that is for sure. would be a juicy option to say the least.

What would you give up for Judd ?

In all honesty, and i'll get :D:D:D:D for saying it, but all the eagles might accept would be a Matthew Lloyd and a first round pick.

Judd is 22/23, the best player in the competition and may go down as one of the greats - has it all.

Lloyd, after injury, will be getting on 29/30 but still the premier FF in the competition and would be just what the Eagles forward line works.

There is 0% chance of this happening, Lloyd whilst potentially not the player Judd is/will be is worth a hell of alot more to a developing young Essendon outfit primed for a premiership assault within the next 5 years.

Dont get me wrong, i'm a huge Lloyd fan, the guy has done some incredible things on the field, a super consistent goal kicking machine who will kick 1000+ goals and go down as one of the top 10 Bombers of all time.

But Judd is something off this planet.....a player that comes around once every 20 years. He could achieve individually as much as anyone injury free. We are blessed to have the opportunity to see this kid develop and play over the next 10 years, sit back and enjoy!

yeah get on judd to win the 06 brownlow medal. he has ALMOST got it in the bag already. I woudn't swap our 2nd best player of the last decade for him though.

swap a midfield type player for him. Was thinking JJ but atleast JJ has been sort of fine this season except in the last week or 2 though :D

whilst McVeigh is a pretty boy who talks the talk but can not walk the walk. It's time to get rid of him.

West Coast would laugh at us for offering JJ, wouldnt be even in their top 10 midfielders, of absolutely no use to a quick, powerful eagles developing midfield. A slowing 30 year old injury prone midfielder would represent a huge step backwards.

Spike was one of our best last year, turned into a versatile backman with the engine to get a run in the midfield. Could name plenty who havent performed as well as Spike, where you pulled that from I dont know. Has done the job consistently, you cant single anyone out this year as there have been another 10 senior players in the same boat.

The Eagles would consider Spike and maybe 2 top 10 picks. Unlikely though, wed probably have to throw another player in the mix. We'd have to throw 2 arms and a leg at the Eagles in return for Judd, even then doubt they'd let him go.

WTF????

a) If we do get a priority pick, it will be late 1st round, which WCE woud not accept

b) Trading our early 1st round pick plus a player would be a stupid trade, especially in this upcoming draft

c) Judd is happy over there and they would not want to let him go anyway

d) JJ has been :D:D:D:D poor all year, not just the last two weeks

e) McVeigh has been a solid contributor all year, he gets a job and does it

How can you say McVeigh is a pretty boy, he's hard at it, played very well on Judd on the weekend when he had him.

In 2006 McVeigh>JJ by a country friggin mile

If we were a top 8 calibre team i'd contemplate paying through the nose for Judd but we have more holes to fill than just one midfield spot. The price to pay for aquiring him(and i doubt he's want to move anyway) is too much considering where our list is it. We need to nail the next couple of drafts and throwing away the majority of our picks isnt going to help.

have u even watched the essendon side this year alas no who the players are? mcveigh puts himself on one year contracts to always remain under pressure to retain his spot.. if he was a pretty boy wouldnt he go to sydney and play with his brother and in a team that will finish top 4??? mate bad call an ease down about JJ... what are you 2 dating and you thought youd give him a plug?

The only way we would get judd is if we finished bottom and he went into the pre season draft providing he is out of contract, otherwise west coast would want plenty for him and i doubt essendon has enough to offer, it would more or less kill our side if we traded too much for him. And when i say kill us i mean leave a gaping hold for our youngsters.

I would rather get the number one draft pick because gibbs is meant to be a judd like player who can dictate how or what happens in the game.

We need a CHB before we need Judd. As good as he is, CHB is our gaping hole. I think the reason McVeigh is put up for trade by people, including myself, is that he is a good player, he's young and probaly along with Welsh the only real trade options with any value. But I think he is repalceable. Also, the fact that he's out of contract every year doesn't help either. If he's committed, then sign a longer deal. Otherwise there will always be speculation that he will go.

what is the length of McVeigh's contract? Does he only sign on one year at a time?

as stupid as it sounds, we would most likely lose out in making a trade for judd, considering what we would have to give up financially and the players we would have to pass on and give up in the future. it could potentially cost us 3 or so pretty good players.

having said that if we could manufacture a thirty goal season for mr johns and throw in kepler, we could "sell" west coast the answer to their forward problems and there could be 3 boys going home at the end of the year. And now I will go back to thinking about what i will do if i win tattslotto...........

personally, as brilliant judd is WITH THE BALL IN HIS HANDS, we don't want him and he wouldn't want to come here either. To settled over there and we would have to give up far too much for a player, who as brilliant as he is, we could get a similar pick in this seasons draft.

We need both badly! Another good tall defneder and a real quality midfielder. They are the two biggest holes at the moment.

I have faith in Watson, Monfries, Dyson and Stanton, plus a few others, to develop into a quality midfield. Not sure about our back line however.

Judd will never leave West Coast, especially for a substandard trade like that. If he ever left West Coast, West Coast would do a Port Power with Nick Stevens and refuse to trade unless they got a good deal. A good deal for Judd would be a Nick Riewoldt, Jon Brown, Matt PAvlich. The would be the trade they would think about very carefully.

He is a special player.

Do you need a prescription for whatever your on?

Anyway, there is no chance that WCE will trade Judd.

However, if we finish last as expected, then we can pick him up for nothing in the PSD if we can convince him to come home.

Essendon actually have the best chance of doing that, but its still pretty slim.

He's contract doesn't run out this year so there is zero chance of it happening.

Just develop the youngens we have already, they are pretty good IMO, add a top notch 1st rounder, very good 2nd rounder, get Hird and Campo and Lloydy back, we'll be pushing for top 4 next year :thumbsu:

i like your optimism but hird will hang up the boots this year sad to say *sniff sniff* but he will only get slower and knocked around easier

Judd is captain of the West Coast Eagles and there's no way he'll be leaving WA to come home to Victoria in the near future. By the way, you can't exchange draft picks over two drafts for a player. :D

We can still pray, and no matter how old and slow he gets, he still greatly influences any game he plays.
