The wash up of this trade period is clubs restricted to be able to move players to other clubs on any decent contracts. Hawks found out hard way, shopping around decent contracted players to try to pry early draft picks, just not realistic this trade period with squeeze on salary cap on roll on effect in Co-Vid times from last season list reductions and player contracts back ended a bit more.

Melbourne have seemed to have a big effect on club thinking as far as ruck stocks in this period.
The sight of Gawn and Jackson on grand final day as ruck duo has really lead to quite a few clubs thinking they may also play two rucks in their 22 most games in 2022. Clearly Geelong going to try to play Ceglar and Stanley in their 22 in their last ditch attempt to snare a flag before Selwood, Hawkins and Dangerfield era is over. Swans going to try to play two rucks too.
Brisbane picked up Dary Fort to help their ruck stocks.
We have Pittonet and TDK. Await to see if we try to play both in 22. Both still very raw and TDK particularly exciting.
After that I assume we got Alex Mirkov still to retain via rookie list as long term project and picked up Lewis Young from Dogs that tall enough to help out in ruck if needed but assume he personally wanting to develop himself as a key defender and when Liam Jones retires hopefully he developed into a quality key defender or a Leigh Brown type tall utility that can do a number of roles well.

As you said he is very good....but can go a quarter or two
cmon....he has to get fit at some stage.....or will he fall to bits
if thats the case this has been an expensive caper
don't speak about the future as though it had already happened - anyone who witnessed the second half of his 2021 has to be bullish about him going forward

What about the elephant in the midfield
I think obviously on his preseason...he can gain huge mometum in the Vfl...the likely relative success of the group next year should spur them on.
We have not had a chance with Dow...one quarter ...its just crazy......if he wants an AFL tank and confidence..its true.he can work very hard and keep going
Just has not been even been close.....
I mean if this club is going to get serious👍

You can have all the talent in the world when ball is in hand but if you dont have repeat efforts and don't run back with intent as a midfielder days are numbered.
I would play Dow in the VFL until he smashed the door down. He can only really play the one position inside mid.

He needs to prove in the VFL he can run both ways and find some ball in link up play, he needs to push someone like Kennedy out of the team.

There is nothing wrong with development in the VFL if the coaches tell you to work on parts of your game, good teams develop in the seconds.

Maybe, but it also helps that Melbourne will probably have the number 1 and number 2 rucks in the whole competition playing for them.
Every team will have their hand full no matter who they recruited in the ruck.

I'd almost be inclined the go the other way of simply trying to negate their influence by adding a faux ruck/extra mid ala SOS and see if that could work.

They have buddy.. they obviously don't have that policy.
Buddy is actually one of the really genuine nice guys in the place, first to arrive last to leave type who has time for everyone in the building.

My comment was more that no club has a no dickheads policy. It's a line that gets pushed out to appease a portion of supporters who idolise footballers and think they do no wrong.

What most clubs have are high expectations on performance, training and preparation standards with things like how well does player x fit in as caveats. If the players are involved and part of driving successful standards they couldn't give a shit about whether the guys a dickhead. As long as they do it within the expectations the players and coaches set themselves and don't alienate themselves or teammates.

So Ladhams would have fit the bill if we also targeted him?

As for not having a "no dickheads" policy

"They infamously had a "no dickheads" recruiting policy during former coach Paul Roos' time at the helm and they have a culture the envy of sporting clubs across the country."

So that’s two years in a row players have nominated Essendon and failed to get there.

Who would’ve thought acting like a prick might have consequences.

Essendon and Dodo have been acting like arrogant jerks at the trade table for significantly longer for 2 years, but not sure at all if they can be blamed for not getting the Bobby Hill deal down.

Suspect If Toby Greene wasn't whacked for the first 6 games of next season, Hill could very well have been at Tulla next season

As I clearly stated - it's a line used that is meaningless. YOu're just throwing media spin at me like it means something. Those Swans teams partied just like any other. All no dickhead means really is no one person is bigger than the team.

You've gotta let shit go. What the Swans have is established and proven. What Carlton has isn't. It's that simple and blatantly obvious.

Aside from that infamous 4WD crash, which really was an accident, Lance Franklin has hardly put a foot wrong since coming to The Swans as a player from an off field people point of view.

Some fans and idiots in the media seem to have an issue with his wife Jesnita, but that is a reflection of sadly some undeniable misogyny and resentment from some numpties in the footy community

He's great and often hangs around till the office staff, physios etc have finished and packed up to play kick to kick with them, that sort of thing. Couldn't be spoken of more highly whenever he's brought up.

Someone should proof read the articles, before it is posted on their website then

I am not the one that keeps banging on about culture at the Swans or statng our new found culture in less than 3 weeks

You questioned Ladhams character and or off field issues, yet the Swans were happy to add him to the list
