Pears is a spud. Worse than Grimes and Chaplin. Also, Astbury is clearly better as well.
No way is he worse than Chaplin or Grimes
He is a long way off best 22 in the 10th best side in the comp.

He looked liked the next Jackovic early in his career but injuries has stopped him coming on. There is no way he is better than Rance, Chaplin and Astbury. Chaplin came 3rd in the Tigers B&F last year.
The fact that Chaplin came 3rd in the B+F last year says more about Richmond than it does about Chaplin. Using that as an example when Daniel ****ing Jackson won it is, well, idiotic

Lol Jackson was brilliant for us last year.

And Chaplin last year was good as well, that's why we were fifth at the end of Home and away.

They were better than essendon in 2013. Should we dismiss anyone that finished in your top 3? Pears would struggle to get a game in any team if he can't in the 10th best side. Too small for key position and not fast enough to take the medium forwards. Stuck in no mans land and not worth much at all.

Im just going out on a limb here but why is Golby even rating as a top 40 pick ?

The bloke isn't getting a game for one of the worst sides in the comp. Maybe TheBrownDog can shed some light ?
If we didn't have a bajillion half backs on our list I would take him. Quality player

He's had a poor year but he's shown some very solid form and development in previous years. He's lost a lot of value but there would still be interested parties.

I reckon more a team that is only taking the bare minimum in the draft and ~40 is the 3rd pick. A trade for potential and list balance.

Pears was decent as a young fella. He's no good now though.

I'm in agreeance with you over Dan Jackson. I don't know how such a poorly skilled player can win an AFL Best and Fairest.

It's hard to value him because the past couple years it looked as if he'd clearly be a 10 year small defender for us, but it's been quite astonishing how far he's regressed this year.
At the start of the year he was a lock in the 22 and probably worth more than the Saints' second round pick, now he's playing twos in a very poor team that has been smashed by injuries and last week we played 5 tall defenders (including 2 first-year players) and a half forward in the back line rather than playing Golby. It would probably be overs for the Saints to give up their 3rd rounder at the moment.

Still, I doubt he'll leave unless he's desperately homesick or something. He's contracted to 2015 and the club would want to see if he can bounce back.

Interested to see what others think these players are worth from Freo. (I've put my opinion in brackets)

Crozier (late 2nd/early 3rd)
Sheridan (2nd rounder)
Hannath (3rd rounder)
Silvagni (early 2nd rounder)

What would clubs offer for these guys?

Yeah I probably over rate him, but the way I see it, he's slotted straight into one of the top 2 or 3 defences for 2 years whenever required and is hardly ever beaten. 3rd rounder is probably more like it although Fremantle would be getting the short straw on that trade.

I'd happily give an early third round pick for Crozier. Sheridan would be a great pick up, too.

I think they'd both benefit from more regular game time. I doubt we'd let them both go, but with Morabito coming back we don't need another line breaking midfielder, so I think Sherro could look around

Our first pick (which I think will be #6) for O'Rourke, Liam Sumner and pick #20 (compo pick).

Would this seem like a fair deal? Looks like a win/win to me.

For those prices I would prefer to keep all those players except Hannath. We would would not get any decent KPP and the best we could hope for is drafting similar quality to Crozier or Sheridan, without the development. Upgrades of picks would be of interest with the aim to land decent KPP prospects (Kytel or Lamb) or attacking mid with X factor (de Goey, Pickett).

I'm more concerned about those players wanting out than us wanting to trade them. Although I agree we should try and upgrade our picks. It a been a while since we've gotten a decent pick in a draft

Instead of Sumner and pick 20, how about our first for O'Rourke and Jaksch? Probably still in our favour, my biased view seems like it's okay though.

Crozier perhaps. Sheridan has been getting decent game time, and is realistically needing another pre-season before pressing for a best 22 with us on his own merit.

If Sylvia remains at his current output then Crozier (or another player) should be able to press for selection. It won't be easy as there are other candidates, but if he is the best, then he could take it.
