Pick 28 for Yeo was massive unders, just like every trade for our young players last year. And to think your recruiters and supporters wanted him for a 3rd rounder He was and is comfortably worth pick around 10-15 in an open draft.

Agree both clubs did well in this trade. Yeo is still a young player developing and could turn out to be a more than handy player for West Coast.

Cripps wanted to come home and we didn't screw you over, no one else wanted him, and in the end the trade looks like overs now anyway. Plays for 10 minutes a game, kicks his solitary goal and then goes unsighted for the rest of the match! You can have him back if you like.

How could he possibly be worth 10 - 15? Granted he's shown some potential, but there's still a long way to go. On the subject of pick 28, didn't you pick up Lewie Taylor? Who would you prefer as Taylor would have been our second round choice at 28.

If paddy ryder ends up leaving the dons and doesn't go to the lions a possibility he goes home to Perth and gets a trade with the eagles (lycett and a pick/mitch brown for ryder?)
Would love to see mitch clark at the hawks and possibly Daniel merret (if lake hangs up his boats)

That's the example that resonated with me. Also Brisbane were far from happy regarding the Yeo trade with both regards to final compensation and the way WCE conducted themselves in the trade.

Not by a long shot. He is worth about what you got for him. He will be a good player but not much more. If he is worth pick 10, Dayne Beams is worth 3 top 10 picks.

I reckon 28 was unders for Yeo, but I'm more surprised WC were happy to give us 28 when they could've forced pick 31 on us. Carlton wouldn't even budge on giving us 32 instead of 33, which they eventually traded anyway.

Yet WCE are a difficult club to deal with? We've been bent over on Yeo, Wellingham & Ebert, no stones when it comes to trading. Even if Saints fans think they got a raw deal with Cripps, if they didn't like the third rounder they could've sent a message by pushing him into the PSD. Looks like about right now anyway.

St.kilda also did no favours by trying to paint us out as the bad guy to the media when we wouldn't trade Mitch brown. We told st kilda in no uncertain terms he was still contracted, a required player and would not be traded. They didn't get their way, and pelchen tried to get one over us. So when cripps refused to go anywhere but to us, the saints had no choice but to accept the 3rd round pick we have, or lose him in the psd. It could have been worse, we could always have offered a token pick.

As for Brisbane, we went well and above to make sure Brisbane were happy. I think considering our size as a club, we are pushovers.

Forget about Steven he is critical moving forward. At the right price (meaning overs) Armitage could be one, although again I would want some experience in that age bracket. Montagna is the obvious one and trading out Dal and Goddard worked out well for you guys. It could be worth a go if you feel you have enough experience anyway. A team near a flag would easily give a first rounder for Montagna.

There's been plenty of talk that Montagna almost went to Essendon last year and that you're still keen this year and that you might trade your end of first round pick for Montagna and our pick 38 ish, but as good as Joey would be for a team in contention, I'm not sure if we'd get a first rounder for just him, given his age. I think we'd have to throw in a sweetener.

Armo is definitely in that age bracket that we are lacking in, but so was McEvoy and like McEvoy, Armo is talked about as a potential "future captain", but again we were still willing to trade Mac, so we may trade Armo if we get a good enough offer. He will be around 30 or so by the time we're aiming to be contending again, so you could see why we'd possibly prefer to get someone younger, who would be just coming into his prime at that time. There was talk that his manager was shopping him around a couple of months ago and there was also talk that Richmond were very keen on him, given their very poor contested disposals record earlier in the year and Dan Jackson nearing the end, but since then Miles has been a revelation, so they might not have as much need for an Armitage now. He could free up a Dustin Martin to play forward more permanently though, so that could still work. Hawthorn have built their premiership list by trading out their first rounders for established and hard-bodied talent and it may be the thing that could push Richmond up into proper contention from their current middle-of-the-road location.

As for Steven, he would be the one we'd be least likely to trade, given how good he was prior to this year being a virtual write-off due to injury, but again, if we got a good enough offer and didn't have that extra pick inside our 2nd rounder then we may just pull the trigger. Least likely to trade of the 3 though.

If it was last year and Heppell didn't come on and Zach Merrett wasn't drafted I'd be very interested at the right price for Montagna. I'm not sure now. He is a gun when fit. Really depends when we see our side in the top 4. For me that is still 2 years as the Swans/Freo/Haw are not going away. Is Montagna worth it in 2 years, not so sure. Can we get a bloke at 19 and back our recruiters to pick another Merrett type, possibly.

Armitage is a weird one and you would need a sweetener to get a first rounder and I'm not sure it is worth it. Steven, forget it. He has leadership qualities.

Yeah that probably would have been a disaster for as as well if we'd traded 24 and 25 for Brown, especially as we most likely would have missed out on Spencer White, who we took with 25. A big thank you to Cale for that one!
