Good to see you back buddy...

Re Butcher, many will write him off but I definitely think he worth a shot at the right price. If we do trade for him, can he play the high CHF role to minimise his opportunities close to goal but maximise marking strength. From memory his field kicking is reasonable but he just gets the horrible yips in front of goal.

Butcher at CHF, McCartin deep, Roo & Spencer roaming around....a bit to like about that.

couldnt agree more, he is the perfect risk reward situation for the right price

i think siposs could provide port with some depth whilst they challenge and maybe find a spot off HBF with that lethal kick. could do with a change of club, especially one that is very good at improving the fitness of their players, which i think is the only thing holding siposs back

Not hewett he looks like one of the better ones coming thru

You have to give up something. Won't just get given players like Giles who could become crucial to your side for the 35-40th players on your list and a draft pick that is of not real value to GWS (considering they are in line to have 5 top 30 picks already).

I wouldn't be against seeing Hewett go for Giles.. Sure he has potential but with such a deep midfield already Sydney should be addressing the most pressing issues first. Rucks & key defenders.

Beams >> Brisbane
O’Rourke and pick 20 >> Collingwood
Pick 4 and pick 24 >> GWS

O'Rourke is a pick number 2 who has two years of development in him and the Pies also get pick 20 - So Pies get a close to ready to go midfielder. GWS get pick 4 and a small pick downgrade on their compo pick (pick 20). Brisbane give up their 1st and 2nd rounds picks.

Pies need more. O'Rourke looks very much like a dud pick./

Also the fact that he might have gone at pick 2 but about 10 picks were in the mini draft and even then he was rated a pick 10 range- GWS overpaid at the time.

No way. Why would we do that deal. It's horrible.

Collingwood not getting enough and GWS getting way too much.

Leaving Petracca for Melbourne? Yes please.

If the three clubs could somehow orchestrate a trade where Collingwood receive both Pick 4 and O'Rourke for Beams then it might be closer to the mark.

Might depend on if GWS are interested in a player such as Merrett... or even if Patful has trade value.

Do you think they need another 18 year old????

Collingwood want a more ready made quality player... you can't call him a spud from having two years at GWS, pretty tough midfield to crack. Still worth a top 10 pick. He was drafted as the second best kid in the league less than two years ago...

He will be more ready for a full season than pick 4 will be, which is what Collingwood are asking for. The other guy I'd suggest from GWS is Jaksch in a three way trade.

How about:
Brisbane receive: Beams and Pick 53
Sydney receive: Pick 4 and Pick 40
Collingwood receive: Sam Reid, Lewis Jetta and Pick 22

Collingwood might be wanting a bit more though

In a very compromised draft and because GWS didn't want to draft anyone from SA and didn't have a need for another Ollie Wines inside type (also been suggested that Ollie didn't want to go there, like Wingard the year before).

Out of his draft class/agegroup, I expect most clubs would have rated O'Rourke behind all of O'Meara, Whitfield, Daniher, Crouch, Wines, Toumpas, Menzel, and probably Garlett at a bare minimum (on ability/talent/output) and he would likely have been somewhere in that next batch with the likes of Macrae, Stringer, Viney, Mayes, Plowman and Grundy.

Had that been a fully uncompromised draft and the likes of Menzel and Garlett not had any injury or off-field issues he probably would have been taken somewhere in the 7-14 range, IMO. That's what I expect the clubs would be thinking when assessing his trade worth two years later.

Given that he may not have even been taken in the top 10 in his draft year had it not been a compromised draft and so-on, he is not in any way shape or form worth a top 10 pick this year, especially since he's out of contract, not shown a lot at either AFL or NEAFL level in the two years since and has injury/durability question marks.

Given the return Brisbane got for their "departing 5" last year in similar circumstances, they'll be doing well if they get a pick inside 20 for him. Ditto Jaksch (who came from that same, compromised draft), who is probably worth about pick 25ish.

Fair points. It was more me trying to get the more mature player to Collingwood.

Personally I think what I have Brisbane giving up is close to our limit. Only extra thing that might happen is if one of our young fringe gets put in the deal.

What about this:

Beams >> Brisbane
Pick 4, pick 20 and Jaksch >> Collingwood
Pick 28 and pick 24 >> GWS

No chance.

Assuming Pick 20 is GWS's second (not sure where this is from)...you're saying theyll not only downgrade their second to 24, but also only take 28 for Jaksch?

If I was Brisbane, I'd play hard ball with Pick 4 only, and let Beams do the work saying the deal needs to be done.

At 1:30pm on the last day of trade week you'll throw in a fringe player of sorts (like a golby), and will be seen to be more fair, and the deal will get done.
