WC don't need a Darling though.. we need midfielders. I'd prefer ponying up 10 and Darling for Beams - but he doesn't want to come to us

But pick 4 would not net us Petracca or, possibly, Brayshaw.
Thus the next best players are McCartin and Wright, who are both key forwards.

Reading a number of reports - the top 4 are supposedly a cut above the rest

If that holds true than hopefully we shake out a Bontompelli/Wines etc.

These are all hypotheticals based on "FIFA manager values" completely ignoring that Darling has recently become engaged and has both families in Perth.

If the top 4 are Petracca, McCartin, Wright and Brayshaw/Lever/Durden it's not getting you anything though really.

Petracca will likely be gone by 4. McCartin is pretty much Darling but more questions so no benefit there. Wrights a big ruck/fwd prospect, that's not helping you. Lever and Durden are KPD, not a need. Brayshaw is more of the workman like midfielder who hopefully (if the dees get him) has upside but isn't really pacy, super classy or that huge body dominant clearance type. With Selwood, Masten, Shuey, Sheed etc I don't think he's what you'd be looking for.

If pick 4 got you the class pacy midfielder you need to reinvigorate your midfield then I'd be all for it. Darling's a great player but he's not an untradeable type when you've got some other good fwd options. But this years pick 4 seems not the right option at all for West Coast.

Fair enough - I don't pretend to know the players, the only one I have followed is Alec Waterman. Ignoring the "draft pool" i don't think my proposal would be that far off.

Doggies get a forward they so desperately need and another tough inside midfielder. Both players are young and are more valuable than their first rounder.

Sydney get salary cap space from Tom Mitchell and send reid to a club that is still a couple years away from competing. They lose jetta but gain wellingham who can play inside and on the wing, Josh hill can play medium forward and push up the ground, garlett offers small forward crumbing, tuohy is insurance for malceski and shaw while Sinclair adds depth to ruck stocks. And gain a first rounder.

Carlton get a solid player in Higgins which allows flexibility, Jones can have a chance up forward and mitch brown can slot straight into the backline.

West coast gets outside run in jetta and Henderson can play either forward or back. Playing him forward could allow darling more time up the ground.

Higgins is a free agent. Henderson is our Carlton's best kpp. I don't think there is enough lube in Australia to help Carlton with this trade.

No, Patfull might be interested in a trade depending on what's on the cards. He's not demanding a trade. IMO, and most Brisbane supporters, he's of more value in the Lions line-up than as a second round pick.

They are screaming out for a ready made player. 2 draft picks are speculative and 2-3 years away before even knowing if they will be any good. Greenwood would be their 2nd best midfielder behind Pendles and has 7-8 years in him.
