Just looking at something TRS touched on regarding sides that could be open or looking for players.

The obvious one is Fremantle. With something like 8 spots open on their list they are no doubt going to be open to trades for players. Most players they get will be better the pick 87 or whatever it would be if they had to use 8 draft picks. Cox is the obvious one, if he wants to go home. He'd fit there youth policy and is a W.A boy plays a role we have excess of on the HBF. Other slimar possibilities are guys like Tarks, Rhyce and Bj. None of them would meet the youth policy that Freo should be taking and I doubt we would get the return we are after for trading a guy like Tarks.

The next two three are teams that are probably hoping to add / top up to make a tilt at a flag before their windows close. St Kilda, Brisbane and North. North really can't afford to spend to much time towards the bottom and hence always are looking to add to their list with older guys. They really need pace in the midfield and a guy like Rhyce or Bj could be handy for them. Even if it is just to upgrade a draft pick.

St Kilda loose Harvey, have Princess Fiona running around and need pace and run. They loose a lot of run from the back when Gram goes into the middle and they need his pace in the middle. Again using a guy like Rhyce or Bj to upgrade our 3rd rounder too thier second could be an option here. Another area they would be looking to top up on is defenders with Hugdhton getting on. A guy like Cox who could defend and offer on the rebound could be of interest here.

Brisbane. With Browny and Bradshaw getting older aswell as Power and Black there is no doubt they'd be hoping to top up a bit to make a real tilt before these guys go and they have to rebuild. With Adcock getting more midfield time Rhyce or Bj again could be an option. They had interest in Rhyce last year and with the runs he put on the board this season his stocks value should have risen.

Are there any other teams in similar positions???? I know Essendon have a few vacancy's too. Doggies will be looking to add to tilt at a flag too but they will be looking more for power fowards and we really don't have one of those that we will be willing to trade.

so what you're really saying from all this is that you want rhyce shaw and ben johnson traded?
dude shouldve saved your time and just wrote that.

Fair call, Although I think I have came out and said that before, I was more looking at WHERE we could off load them.

Trading Cox would be a silly move. Showed plenty of promise towards the end of the year but we would get very little back for him. Would be much smarter to hang onto him.

However I agree with Shaw and Johnson. Trade both for late 3rd or even 4th round picks to anyone who will take them. They are list cloggers. Better off having a punt at a young kid with good skills.

Rhyce Shaw to Brisbane for a 3rd + swap of picks OR for a 4th Round pick.
Ben Johnson to a team like North Melbourne as they could use the added pace into the midfield and I guess if Laidley liked Johnson whilst at Collingwood, would give up a 2nd rounder for him if we on-traded our 3rd with him or something along those lines.
Shannon Cox back to WA for a good pick from WCE or Freo would obviously be accepted, but that'd depend on what they have to offer.

I'd be looking at something like Bj plus our second rounder to Brisbane for their second rounder. Rhyce plus our 3rd to Stkilda for their second. I'd even look at Cox plus St Kilda's second to Freo for Freo's second.

Not sure whether we could get the second round upgrade on Bj.

Would you do that trade with Collingwood receiving pick 24 instead of 21?

For mine Cox is a skillful player that will probably just lack an AFL position and hence struggle to keep consistancy.

His not strong or accountable enough to play defence and hence plays as a loose man HBF.

He will probably struggle for the fitness to ever play midfield / wing where he'd be most dangerous, even then he just doesn't have the physicality we need from that sort of player.

Not sure Voss would trade with us now for R Shaw or Johnson.

Sydney is another team that keeps topping up, and could be interested in Shaw.

I agree!

I reckon Brisbane would like to play Ash McGrath up forward again rather than down back as a line breaker which might have some appeal for R Shaw. But I can't see them taking him now Voss is the Boss. I reckon he'd have some very strong opinions on players he used to play against and Collingwood players in particular, and they won't be positive ones. I guess it would depend on how confident he is in Rhan Hooper and some of their other small forward prospects.
