The club should have a 600k black hole in its salary cap as of today. The big question is, do you spend it within the team or do you offer the money about elsewhere and find a ready made replacement.

Think you could probably do both in all honesty. Attracting a bloke starved of opportunities like Shaun Higgins or a younger guy at a cheaper price like Simon Hogan, Koby Stevens, Xavier Ellis or the like. Either way id expect a body coming in at trade weeks end. I dont think Garry Lyon is dumb enough to walk away from the trade period without a scalp to talk about

I hate how much talk there is of draft picks on this board. We can't just keep going back to the draft in search of improvement in the vague future. Especially not in such a weak and compromised year. It can't be an endless cycle of looking to the future and being hopeful, else we'll never get anywhere. So talk of trade targets as players, not picks.

The above is not valid if we can get our hands on someone like young Jaegar.
Yes you can, & we have to.

But first We Must secure a strong AFL player in the trade period, If not 2.

A strong bodied Mid of note, + a big bodied power forward are the 2 positions needing attention.

If Toy wants to come back to Melbourne I wouldn't mind having a big go at getting him.

If $cully goes, maybe one of the compo's picks for Toy? If he stays then maybe Morton and our 2nd round selection or even P12 with maybe Barts as a kicker if required.
We've got too many Toy boys. We need some hardasses who'll be prepared to crash peoples parties.

surely after announcing today that jack gunston wants to return to victoria we should be going after him, kicked 20 goals from 14 games, only negative is that he is too slim and at 193cm, another howe, not the big lead up forward we crave

You've pretty much just said we should get him and the described the reasons we shouldn't.

Next.

So you say we should chase him but then say his negative is that he is not the forward we need...?

Gunston looks good but we have plenty of his type of player on our list. Adelaide will play hard ball and I don't think we should pay top dollar for him.
