If I'm not wrong, a player in the PSD can put a price on their head that a team taking them has to match. Hawks clearing space means they could front end it so others won't want to take him. Not sure if you have to match year by year or just total contract though...
Means if he's sent to the PSD (as GC have threatened if Hawks can't satisfy them in a deal), he can put a huge price on his head for a one year deal that only the Hawks could pay.
Right. I'd forgotten about this.
Has to be total contract and has to be minimum 2 years.
This is all sorts of risky IMO. You'd have to think this is upsetting the 'family club's' apple cart a bit. He'd have to be paid well overs to make sure no one had a crack. I reckon they'd be getting themselves into all sorts of strife doing this. Would also sour relations with GC a fair bit (and other clubs) and that's a bit short-sighted. You don't go pissing off your feeder clubs like that do you? That's not a good way to do business.
I'm more inclined to think they're building up a bit of a war chest to grab Fyfe/Martin etc next year. That is scary.
