Only a moron would be unhappy to snare Mitchell.

Is there any indication of what WC are giving up?

Only a moron would be happy to take Mitchell carte blanch without knowing what we are sacrificing.

What are we at WCE?? a bloody holiday resort and or retirement home? Geez thanks Hawks.. How lovely, they get to make room in their salary cap etc to get the midfield players like which WE ACTUALLY NEED .. . I don't know . like the other MITCHELL and the Jaeger.

How wonderful for Sammy who gets to run around not giving a F for a year then enjoys his new coaching career and family life in the sun, kids in all the best schools and relocation all paid for and organised etc courtesy of the lovely WCE welfare dept. Never mind he's never actually coached before (yes yes got his level 3 etc.). Clarkson, the great guy he is ringing his great mates in WA to set up this redundancy package - so we just abide to the lord Clarko's biddings?

Meanwhile we won't move Priddis out so we'll have two small geriatrics plodding around (which is the only way having mitchell might benefit us)
I the very least, if we're gonna bend over for the Hawks - surely can we have the balls to say bye bye Priddis ??
Talk is Masten may be moved out instead??? Least Masto can kick a football.

Mitchell's a far better kick than Masten and he puts his head over the ball unlike Masten, I'd move Masten on and still chase a younger midfielder

Hope we don't give up 12 and even if we have to I think 14 in return is fair. Otherwise it will be a shafting imo.

Can see it being 12 for Mitchell and 23 (the Mayne compo pick Freo give up for Hill), with 12 going to the Suns for JOM.

Think that's overpaying though.

34 and slow

At first glance, why would you...

But then consider, Mitch has always been slow.

Was considered too slow at 17, so didn't get drafted.
Needed to go to the VFL and win a Liston (31 votes in 11 games, including 10 BOG's) before he got a look in.
Over 15 years, 4 flags, 5 B&F's and a Brownlow, he still plays the same way. Slow.
He still plays at the same pace at 34, but yet he still racks up 30+ QUALITY possessions a game.
He makes the entire team better in every way.
Never been injured seriously, and you may get 3+ years of of him if he is still committed to play.

He is in my eyes the second best Hawk player of all time.
You guys seem to have landed on your feet.

I'm pretty devo here. But I reckon it is the right move for Mitch & his family, and he would leave our club with the gratitude only ever afforded to a rare few.

big names in that other clubs want them due to their future potential. Mitchell winning whatever accolades in the past doesn't mean anything, he's only going to play the one season, hardly us attracting a big name as you put it.

He won Hawthorn's best and fairest last week.

A lot of this going on

If we are in a window what would we be sacrificing?
Are you SERIOUSLY advocating spending our first rounder on a 34 year old player for a best case scenario of 2 seasons?

Jesus Christ. 3rd rounder Maximum.

So you would say no to pick 12 to get Mitchell?
Yes.

He is 34 GWS.

Understand your POV, so understand mine. SPP will add 10 yrs to the guts and give us a chance in the future.

I don't think anyone* is against bringing in Mitchell as long as the trade isn't ridiculous like losing our first pick.

I'd say 99% are excited about bringing him in and see the positives, both on and off field, that he will bring.

He is a big name player. He is a gun.

However for mine those blowing their loads about how amazing our guys are for pulling this off need to realise that it sounds like we did very little, if anything, to convince him to come over early and from a playing list perspective this is short term. This isn't a case of 'suck shit haters we can convince big name eastern state players to move over here'.

On the flip side those bitching and moaning that he isn't a 25yr old gun mid need to appreciate that it is still a very good thing for the club. He will add a lot to the club and prove invaluable and if the stars align we might be able to pinch a flag in 2018.

Yes I totally agree re: Mitchell's skills.. ( sorry the news has fired me up of course).. Mitchell would be awesome if he replaced another of our smaller SLOW mids. Ideally (IMO) Priddis.

We are strongly missing on field leadership and Mitchell offers that in spades. Plus can mentor some of the younger mids.

He's an all Australian reigning best and fairest. We shouldn't trade too much for him because we'll only get a year or two out of him, but there are a whole lot of positives

Not overly but giving up pick 12 would not bother me.
Personally I would give up Masten and our last pick but that's just me.

Yep - i'd do that as well.

I'm definitely on the bandwagon of getting him - but don't want to sell the farm to get him
