Yes. Retirement.

I'm struggling to recall who it was exactly but I seem to remember at least 2 instances of players 'retiring' only to un-retire and allow themselves to be drafted to another club. I remember thinking it was very dodgy at the time and the AFL didn't seem to care since it was Victorian clubs involved.

Grima?

Ok so you have stated that

Mitchell was already heading over here. He stated that Clarkson approached him to move west 2 weeks ago.

His wife has been looking at schools for 2018? After Clarkson approached him.

Clarkson has done this because it's good for Mitchell and it moves out his overflated salary to chase other younger stars. Well this is why I have a problem

Mitchell gets a one year head start at coaching. Couldn't he receive this at Hawthorn "The Family Club"

My problem is that we are quick to jump on the fact that Mitch will end up coaching at the Eagles, if he heads back east to coach at Hawthorn in 2018 we end up being screwed. Hawks pick up Jager and Tom Mitchell and we miss out on a second rounder. Your logic of trusting Alistair Clarkson is the biggest worry. The dude has clear sociopathic tendencies and only cares about his reputation in this great game of ours.
You are aware that we've been talking to Sam Mitchell since last year about coming over to coach when he's finished playing yes?

The plan until 2 weeks ago was that he'd be moving to WA in 2018 to join our coaching group

That's why his wife has been looking at schools since before Clarkson discussed the idea of Mitchell moving a year earlier

And why Clarkson even considered the notion of him playing at west coast because he was coming here anyway

He's not going to move his family over to WA only to move them back to Victoria a year later

And nobody has said we're losing a 2nd rounder - everybody that's discussed the trade in the media, most significantly Mitchell's manager, has said the trade won't be much

Hawthorn get salary cap relief and a late draft pick

West coast get a gun player for a year, possibly 2. After that we have an assistant midfield coach that spent a year playing with the guys he'll be coaching with a clear understanding of their strengths and weaknesses

Your preconceived hatred of Clarkson and Mitchell is clouding your judgement on this and preventing you from seeing this objectively

You really are one negative, glass half empty , pessimistic bastard.

I bet if Jennifer Hawkins asked you to root her you would knock her back , for fear she may have a STD.
Well she would after......

stinger05 - are you by chance the long lost brother of Chris Mayne?

I'd really like to see Mitchell play 2-3 season rather than just the one.
That isn't to say that I would be unhappy if he only played one, but I just really want to see Naita x Shuey x Mitchell centre clearances.

I will leave the Mitchell trade alone Keyz if you can reveal your trusted source. If you say the words Hackdorn, Clarkson, Mitchell or Criag "Partington Disease" Vozzo i will swear to god i will imagine your voice is coming out of Chris Mayne's face every time i listen to the pod (in 2018).

Is 19 or 21 from Brisbane still on for EMac?
No

Not sure it ever was but in any case Mckenzie doesn't want to go there and you can't blame him for that

Hey you might remember me from "the guy who tells everyone to chill out in the gameday thread, or the pos neg threads or the changes thread". Most of the people telling me I'm a negative nancy post in the gameday threads, that shit is like satin's fishbowl.

People are quick to throw stones in glass houses.

The source on Mitchell talking about coming here to coach in 2018? Mitchell himself, plus Vozzo, in their interviews this morning when the news broke.

My trusted source for what?

That the plan was for Mitchell to join west coast at the end of his playing career as an assistant coach and that we had been discussing this with him since last year?

It's everywhere in the media based on interviews with
Sam Mitchell
Peter Lenton (Mitchell's manager)
Graham Wright (hawthorn football manager)
Craig Vozzo

I've heard each of those guys speak and they all said we had been speaking to Mitchell since last year

His manager said that Sams wife had been looking at schools for sometime so the transition to WA was already in motion before Clarkson spoke with Mitchell about a possible trade as player

Now if you want to believe all those men are lying and I have no idea why they would then enjoy your mental picture of Chris Mayne because I can't help you

So your reliable source is Vozzo are you saying publicly that Vozzo is a trusted source?

You see my point.

Vozzo said publicly that WCE had been talking to Mitchell since last year. Mitchell said the same thing.

As Keyser's just pointed out, so did Graham Wright (the Hawthorn equivalent of Vozzo) and Mitchell's manager.

Put them together and I think the info is legit.

No.

We don't.

Time for you to log off, because you're looking very silly. Not quite as silly as the tantrum earlier mind you, but silly nonetheless.

Get some rest and argue some more tomorrow.

Do you think he would prefer Essendon Keyser Soze ? If so, Emac + our second (currently 34) for Essendon's second pick (20)? They have defenders but with Woosha the more the merrier. The way it is going our second could end up as pick 40 at the end of this trade period.

With Patfull retiring GWS could also be looking for defenders. Our 1st + Emac + our 2nd to GWS for Picks 15, 16 and possibly a third round pick would be great.
This is all assuming Brown stays - if he is leaving then prefer to keep EMac.

I don't think there's any major free agent moves to come that would push it out any further.

To be fair we live in a world where Chris Mayne is given $500 000 a year over 4 years which commanded pick 23 so anything can happen really.

As ridiculous as that is, it was widely expected beforehand that Freo would get pick 23 for him.

But we live in a world where this time yesterday the only person who thought Sam Mitchell was coming to West Coast was Kim Hagdorn, so yes you never know.

Essendon are out. I know that worsfold said they'd be interested in eMac and brown a little while back but that was before Hurley agreed to return

They have Hurley and hooker as KPDs as well as Gleeson and Hartley that played there this year. Dodoro has said they no longer have any interest

GWS could perhaps use Mckenzie but they have salary cap issues due to their salary cap being reduced for 2017 so they wouldn't be able to absorb his salary which is high for next year

It'll take a club to offer eMac something juicy to convince him to shift and I don't think he has the currency
