I'm very surprised Brown hasn't announced as signed with a Vic team under free agency.
Though it would be one of the first deals done.
Depends on the Ballantyne decision. There might be room for Brown in his preferred forward pocket role

I'm not sold on the idea of bringing in a ruckman for 1 season. As it is, we have 2 healthy ruckmen for next season in Giles and Lycett. McInnes can play the ruck/fwd role if we need and Brown can pinch hit in the ruck. We may have Naitanui to add to the mix come finals next year too. (Not expecting him to set the world on fire when he gets back though.

I'd rather we look at a project ruckman if we are going to have another ruck on the books.
Esava Ratugolea comes to mind as he can play the fwd/ruck role

Sorry but this is absolute bullshit.

Your kidding yes? Just go through the Trade threads, every player that comes up for discussion we either have someone as good or better already, or they are over rated. Our blokes are worth more than theirs etc etc.
It is pretty funny to read.

If a club wants to bid a first rounder on Waterman they can have him.
Can't help but feel we will pay overs (obviously pick 12 is silly, but our second rounder) because
a) they will want to keep the Waterman relationship amicable
b) they will want at least one of their F/S to work out (media/PR benefits)

Big call saying Disastrous, what the hell has he done wrong?

Until a player pulls on our jumper they simply can't play according to BF. Once they are playing for us then they are twice as good as they actually are.

Consider that redden looked pretty good at Brisbane before stinking it up this year and he cost pick 17

Brisbane have been a rabble and Rockliff has been captain and has allegedly had a hand in the removal of two coaches

As a player he wins plenty of ball but doesn't do much with it which is the same criticism levelled at priddis. We don't need another high quantity/low quality possession getter in a midfield that lacks a game breaker

If he was worth what he's asking other clubs would be chasing him. They aren't, they're actually doing the opposite and ruling themselves out. What does that tell you?

For pick 12 he'd be a disaster

It's pretty amazing, because at the same time our midfield is trash, our forwards are squibs and our backs are out of form

There are decent posters on here & you have just lumped them all together as one.

That irked me.

That is fine but you said him being at the club would be a disaster, if you think it would be a disaster paying pick 12 then that is different. You said he was poison and thats all i was questioning.
Sometimes when you play with mugs you play like a mug. Mitchell might have the same issue with us, not as good all of a sudden because he is now playing with less quality.
He could end up being a star also in a better team? that is what list managers have to work through.

Not sure Lycett qualifies as healthy. He's "expected" to be ready for round 1 but coming back from a PCL is a bit dicey.

If he's not right, or if anything unexpected happens, we're left with Giles rucking with such support as Brown/McInnes can provide, ie very little, and zero depth in the shed.

Never seen any of Ratuglea but I'm assuming he's not going to be able to come straight in and perform as a 18/19 year old. Plus we'd have to take him in the ND, if he gets through to the rookie draft Richmond have the rights to him.

Audio of graham wright (hawthorn footy manager) on trade radio saying that a deal for Mitchell hasn't been done but it's close

Will wait with interest to see what we cough up but he'll be playing with us next year

Well I would of thought you would no what I meant, I didn't want to ready 10000 pages and write every negative posters views and name them individually.
I apologise if I upset you. Not intended.

From a list management perspective I'd prefer to run the risk of an 18/19 year old next season rather than wait. It gives a young ruckman 4 years to develop before Naitanui hits 30. If we want someone to have an immediate impact next seaon that spot on the list is currently taken by McInnes IMO

Took too long to make up his mind and everyone moved on. Now his agent is scrambling to get teams interested again.

It is amusing to see posters complain we missed out on a player now after saying he was a spud weeks/months ago when we were playing against him.

There are many decent posters who i think know a fair bit about the game.

Fair enough. Probably the spicy chicken I just ate left me hot under the collar.

Rockliff isn't what we want with pick 12, he isn't the damaging line breaker we need.

Yes he is good, but I don't think he'd be the "difference" for another flag.

Hearing Melbourne has sounded out retired Cat Corey Enright about a coaching role. And Xavier Ellis is being linked with the St Kilda panel

Booo!

Would love him to stay around on our coaching staff.

This might be an ignorant suggestion.

But would they have ditched Waterman to free up space, with an agreement to Rookie him?

He was already a rookie

Fair chance he probably wants to return to Victoria and with Mitchell coming across its hard to see a coaching spot being available for him

I do agree it would have been nice to see him stay around though
