Sorry if my last post came across as aggressive.

Does anyone here think Maric is worth pick 14? And if not do you think the compo is a fair deal, keeping in mind it will likely be a top 30 pick?

Compo pick is what the Crows want - or a player. Nobody thinks he's worth 14. We would hold the compo pick for next year IMO, where it would be ~ pick 20 or so in a much stronger draft, which I reckon is about right.

I think the Bock pick is what the Crows are really after.

on SEN Plough said that Waite is up for trade (well in theory)

could we convince him to come to the Crows?

He's good but too old. Isn't he, what, 29 next year?

Just posted about this on your board - no we don't actually expect pick 14, but we would be totally inept if our starting price was our actual expected price wouldn't we? Trade will get done as soon as the Bock compo pick is on the table IMHO.

it was #33 and some

also, different situation, different year and different player.

It was last year, a player requesting a trade to another club (same situation) and it was #33 and #67.

Offering pick #67 as a sweetener doesn't really change the deal.

No, he's not worth 14 and I doubt you'll find anyone on here that thinks he is.

You mean the pick we swapped for Tambo? That's probably about right unless there is other interest in Maric (but still no where near pick 14).

I'd disagree with that. Surely most at the Crows are unhappy with the Tambling trade?

If Jacobs is worth pick 33 then how is pick 37 for Maric unrealistic

Risk/Reward. It's easy to say in retrospect but at the time Jacobs had played 17 games and one good one out of that. We took a risk and it paid off, you don't have to, you know what you're getting with Maric. You're welcome to risk it on a another "potential" ruck if you want.

How many mature ruckmen get traded for less than pick 30 unless it's a charity case (Griffin last year, Steven King a few years back)? Jacobs was 22 and had played a grand total of 17 games.

Too early to make a judgement on the Tambling trade, we need to give Bling the opportunity to do a full pre-season

I'm not talking about Tambo, I'm saying that the pick we used to get Tambo would be enough for you to get Maric.

I'm not necessarily disappointed with the Tambo trade, he may still turn out okay after this preseason (gee I sound like a Tiger supporter of old). We took a punt on him, again some trades have a high risk, high reward element to them. I'm okay with that.

Actually no. I think most supporters think he was used incorrectly, made to be a scapegoat for some losses, and generally treated poorly by the previous coaching panel. If we could give him an environment where he played like he did in 2009, we'd be winners.

Would be slightly funny if we got the Bock compo pick back, essentially the trade would become Maric for Tambling.

roll your eyes all you want

you clealry have no idea what your talking about so why not just stop while your ahead?

I have to admit - I was hoping this thread wouldn't end up being a whinge fest for people like you but it appears destined to be that way until the week is over.

That is true I'll acknowledge that... But he only managed 6 games this year after being overtaken by a 17 gamer. You wouldn't say his value is at a high.

Jacobs (33) and Mumford (28) may have been speculative ruck trades but only to a point. I'd say Adelaide and Sydney would have been pretty confident these players would have turned out to be better ruckmen than Maric.

RFC knows what they're going to get with Maric which is why they won't be prepared to pay overs. Jacobs & Mumford should be considered the benchmark (both better players).

Nothing personal mate just having an adult discussion... easy to say "different situation" without elaborating.

you know what hindsight is don't you.

so you know when you look a deal in hindsight, you have to remove the knoweldge you have been provided with between then and now.

so yes, in hindsight both those deals look good, but at the time they were about line ball give the lack of experience both players had.

back in the current World - Ivan Maric is not a 17 game player and is a proven AFL ruckman - not a speculative pick.

Why do you think Richmond will just hand over valuable picks for players who are nothing more then stop gaps?

Do not mind him at all...

I think Goldsack is worth a look for sure. With Tarrant Reid Brown Maxwell all still around his opportunities are still limited. What about pick 35 and Myke Cook for Goldsack?
