I like your thinking Elvis...good long term view which i am all for. Mabey i am greedy and cant wait a whole year. I am all for looking to the future too, two 17 year olds would be great. However, i would hate to sell the farm and very cautious of this. If we could manage to maintain our first rounder and nab a kennedy type, then i am happy.

Suns land O'Meara, Crows secure Crouch

Jake Niall

October 12, 2011 - 2:52PM

Trade week's biggest dominoes appear set to be fall today with Gold Coast and Adelaide having secured prized 17-year-old players Jaeger O'Meara and Brad Crouch respectively.
The Suns will get O'Meara, beating off a strong bid by Melbourne which pulled out of contention earlier today.
Under the O'Meara deal, Gold Coast will give up its No.4 pick in this year's national draft and a mid-first round concession pick (obtained from Geelong last year) in return for the highly-touted Western Australian O'Meara who would certainly be selected in the top three of this year's draft if he was eligible. O'Meara is not draft age but can only be traded to another club by Greater Western Sydney.

In return the Suns will also get either pick No.25 or No.31 from the Giants.
The Crows were set to secure the other elite 17-year-old prospect Crouch, of North Ballarat, by giving up their compensation pick - obtained in return for losing Phil Davis - and pick No.10 in this year's draft with the Crows likely to receving Gold Coast's No.14 pick.
Melbourne and the Bulldogs, which also had compensation picks for losing Tom Scully and Callan Ward, were in the market for O'Meara and Crouch but were unable to match the bids by Gold Coast and Adelaide.
The Demons offered their compensation pick for losing Scully, which can be used up until 2015, and is tied to the ladder position of Melbourne.
Melbourne also offered pick No.12 but wanted a draft selection inside the top 25 in return.

FFS Kung Fu let's wait and not go off prematurely

No, the 4 club trade deal is not happening.

I said, we may win or break even by the end of the week and trading Gunna now could help facilitate this, but we lost big time on Gunston.

Is that nuance too complicated?

All we got to do now is do well next year, and we will be HUUUUUGE winners. It may be something like; pick 10-15 + 10 <--> ~5 + 14

If we do relatively well next year we can pick up Kennedy still maybe, or Toumpas etc.
