Just a thought - would we consider trading Houla to Port for Fabian DeLuca.

I just thought it maybe worth a look at in order too get a promising ruckman too our club.

Just wanted too see others thoughts - perhaps with explanation.

Factors too consider:

How is Houla rated by us?

How is Fabian Deluca rated in regards too his rucking ability?

Would Port consider this if Deluca wanted too come home?

Does Deluca want too come back too Melbourne?

Would Houla offer something too Port?

Just a thought for discussion, and that's what this forum is about. Don't think it's too far fetched, nor do I think it is necessarily on the radar, but is born from the thought of HOW DO WE GET A PROMISING RUCKMAN.

Quite possible!
Another may be Hartlet (SA boy) for Deluca.

Wouldn't trade either.

Reasons:
We need every midfielder we have.
You don't trade KP players until 110% sure they will not make it or unless you have an abundance off. We don't.
DeLuca is out of contract and therefore the PSD is there for the taking. He is still a speculative pick.
Why trade Hartlett when we chose him instead of DeLuca in the same draft?

Do we really want another deluca at carlton? I know Adrian has played a couple of his best ever games in the navy blue the last couple of weeks, but im not sure its going to last.

Bingo...............PSD or nothing as far as I'm concerned.

You tell me who's been injured more, F.Deluca or Hatlett?

I doubt Port would give up Deluca, to anybody for anything. Port dont need or want Houlihan- they are at a developing stage- and Houla isnt worth giving up two years of ruck development for. It's really our own fault that we have the problem- draft penalties or not Carlton recent history with developing talls has been pretty shocking.

Sydney would be a more likely home for Houla- probably for a (late) fourth round pick as a possible cheaper alternative for Akermanis (if they decide to go for him anyways), but I dont think he is going anywhere anyway

Not only did we choose Hartlett ahead of DeLuca in the same draft but why would Port be interested in an injury prone player who has yet to make his debut because of it.Dont get me wrong, I cant wait more than anyone for Harts debut, but at this stage thats probably Ports outside view.

We would not and should not consider this trade. I know many of us get fed up with Houla many a time, but we must realize that he is VERY talented. In a list very low on talent, or proven talent, we must keep what we have. Houla is an established player, he is still quite young. We require Houlihan, he is one of the few at Carlton who have sublime skills.

Why would we trade for Fabian? Yes, I understand that we are quite low on ruckmen at the moment, but has Fab proved himself? He has played 2 or so games-who is to say he is good? He may be crap for all we know. I would much prefer to draft our own ruckmen and develop the ones we already have on the list.

As for the Hartlett idea: NO WAY! Hartlett will be a much better player than Fabian, just you watch. Harts will not be going anywhere. Why would we trade him? We did, may I remind you, draft him in front of Fabian, and therefore we prefer him.

I know houlihan has his critics but a late 4th round pick?
Have you ever actually seen the guy play? Because i have serious doubts with comments like that.

Good point, Houla is tradeable.

But I'd keep him forever if he got a hair cut. Imagine him with a head like blackers. Some-one start a petition, or at least a poll.

I reckon he would play soooo much better if he wasnt worried about his HAIR all the time.

With this years top draft, and the number of higher profile midfielders seemingly on the table (Judd, Akermanis, etc.) coupled witht the fact that Sydney will again finish high in the finals race, I doubt Houlihan would fetch much more than a fourth round pick, perhaps third round with luck. Dont forget though, Houlihan has had six years at AFL level, without truly imposing himself. I hate to say it, but if we hold ourselves to that standard, we have no hope. Sydney (or another flag contender) certainly wont.

Oh and yes, I have seen him play, just about every week;)

Where has it been said that JUDD is going to be traded? If houlihan is worth only a 4th round pick or maybe a 3rd round pick, what would Judd be worth in your eyes? A 2nd rounder? as if your 4th round pick wasnt stupid enough now you are including Judd in trade talk, mate get a life.

Brad Fisher for Ryan Murphy would be good if Fish was a WA boy and Murphy wasn't a forward, because only one of them can kick and that player isn't Fisher.

Just to keep you happy because you've been missing it so much.......trade Pagan!!!!! :D

And leave my mate Fish alone!!:)

You obviously didnt note that I said 'seemingly', did you? No-one knows for sure, but in my ESTIMATIONS, and given the rumours going aaround in the media, there will be several high profile players yup for trade. No, Houlihan would DEFINITELY NOT be worth a second round pick, or anymore than a tird round pick at very best. Comparing Judd to Houlihan is pointless- Judd is in another world to Houla.

Houlihan is just not consistent enough after five/six years, lacks leadership abilities and plays in a poor side. Objectively speaking, he wont be highly rated enough by other clubs. Take off your rose coloured glasses for a sec and think about what you are saying.
