does that mean we have 4 senior spots to fill on our list?
In: Lake, Spangher, Anderson
Out: Murphy, Young, Gilham, Ozzie, Bruce, Bateman, Boumann

I assume we use 3 picks in the ND, and then pass on the 4th in order to use in the PSD (For Ozzie). Would we look to elevate any of the rookies? Schnider stiff!!

I'm tired and my brain is not working. What is the logic behind delisting Ossie if we intend to pick him up again in the PSD? Why dont we just give him a 1 year contract?

We can only have a maximum of 2 veterans and I think it would be better to have Mitchell and Hodge take up the veterans positions vacated by Bateman and Osborne due to the amount they free up in the salary cap.

Veteran Players
Under AFL player rules, each club may nominate or list any number of what are called Veteran Player’s. In order to be eligible for classification as a Veteran a player must have been the age of 30 as at September 30 in the relevant AFL season and be on the primary list of the AFL club for at least 10 years or in the case of Port Adelaide since the inception of the club. From 2006 there is now no limit on the number of veteran players a club can list, as long as the player meets the required classification.

I think it might be letting him down softly, we obviously don't believe currently he is the best available option for our list but are giving him a chance to prove himself.

Will be interesting to see with the delisted free agency period if we do in fact go to the PSD.

I doubt that Ossie will get redrafted

If we were going to keep him then why not still have him on the list and allow for vets list concessions?

So either we will use all four of our picks or we will look to upgrade Wanganeen I'm guessing

Osborne was not entirely unexpected although I thought they would have kept him on.

Delisting Schneider and McCauley yet they are keeping others who showed even less.

If they are keeping Langford, Wanganeen, Frank and Boseley then that is our full complement of rookies for next year.

Grimley and Duryea are 2 very lucky players.
Duryea aint lucky he has earnt himself a place on our list was box hills best finals player this year and had a year as consistent as most kids going along in the VFL

Lol, Shneider was the Best and Fairest for Box Hill. If he didn't get a go, Duryea is lucky.

That seems to be about the size of it although not sure if they would take Ossie.

We have 4 selections at the ND at this stage - 29, 68, 72 and 84. Will pass on the last selection to keep one pick alive for the PSD according to the club statement. With 4 rookies still on our list that would mean we don't get any new rookies apart from Kilkenny unless they make further adjustments at the next list lodgement.

Don't think any of the remaining rookies would get upgraded but Langford and Wanganeen would be on their third years. Langford was one of our 6 listed rookies this year so don't think he is outside the rookie list with the NSW scholarship scheme.

"THE AFL has uncovered a secret meeting involving at least 10 members of the Melbourne football department in which coaches were reminded of the importance of forfeiting matches in order to gain early draft picks.
Can't see Melbourne getting to keep pick 4 after this. Crazy off-season, this one!

Also, Geelong did delist Tom Gillies. Whether we pick him up or not, I don't know, but it's interesting none the less given we were making offers for him a year ago.

We offered Geelong our pick 33 for him actually. Thats the pick we used to draft Brad Hill.

Schneider was a rookie Duryea is on our main list thats one reason. Secondly and taking nothing away from schneider here he had an outstanding year but Duryea can play. He just needs to put on some meat has a laser left boot. Finally the coaching staff also had Duryea actually listed as an emergency for a couple of games this year. He aint a world beater but he has potential and thats he reason hestays on the list.

I was replying solely to the best player during the finals, my point was if that was the criteria surely Schneider stays for his efforts. I'm just in shock.

Because the club wants to assess how Osborne's rehabilitation from his knee injury progresses before committing to him.

Some would say that Schneider had an equally impressive year, and i'm not sure how certain players survived ahead of him, especially considering we could have upgraded him

Naah they poster i was responding to just said point blank that duryea was lucky to stay on the list and thats a fallacy. Schneider has nothing to do with the decision to keep Duryea. He plays a different position. Schneider may also be seeking opportunities elsewhere.

Maybe he doesn't want to stay is looking at other opportunities. Because for the position he plays whats the likelihood that he will get a game in the near future? I think he wants better opportunities but thats just me guessing.

Lets hope so, but it would suck to let him go only for him to pull a Kennedy on us.

On a side note, are we a little short on ruckmen now? Bailey, Hale and Lowden, with Roughy and Grimley being pinch hitters, seems 1 too few to me. If Hale goes down, we would be relying on Bailey to stay fit for a whole season. I suppose we have to get games into the other two at some point, i hope they're ready. We might also pick another one up through the PSD or something.

I am going to have to drop this Duryea issue as Hawthorn have decided to hold on to him for one more year. I think he is a list clogger but others see his potential so I hope the others are right.

Not sure how he got to be Box Hill's Best Player in Finals. The best player lists in order and actually supplied by the clubs' themselves were as following:

Elimination final v Sandringham
Best: Box Hill - L. Andrews, T. Schneider, S. Savage, M. Hallahan, T. Duryea, M. Bailey
Semi Final v Geelong
Best: Box Hill - X. Murphy, K. Cheney, T. Schneider, L. Andrews, M. Hallahan, T. Duryea

From those lists Andrews, Schneider and Hallahan were all rated higher in both games and having watched both games and having DVD copies of them I would say those 3 players were all better than Duryea during the finals. Someone there loves him though.

Good luck to Schneider in the future. If I was him I would go to Port Melbourne and carve out a great career at a club that appreciates his attributes.

Grimley the lucky one.

Schneider has been ripping it up in the seconds, but like Lisle before him the coaching staff think he's missing something that is a requirement to play senior level.(whatever that may be). Don't forget Miles Sewell won the VFL Brownlow and didn't get picked up by anyone.

Many of us though Sierakowski may have been a great pickup for north, such was his form at box hill.

All the clubs are being ruthless with their lists, Swans and Collingwood already cutting quite a few. We are following suit. Must be some talent floating around the draft pool.

...I think he is a list clogger....
Its interesting i i Disagree time will tell. You talk about the list of best players. Several times this year players listed in the best for box hill confounded me and what i saw at the game lets just leave it at that.

Gold Coast may pick Ozzie up in preseason draft before us or if at our pick there is a player that's better who do they go for.
