I didn't go myself (still making my way to Melbourne at 9:30) but here's a cross-post from Nicks:-

http://magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.php?t=54627

Jack Anthony didnt participate in anything... he ran laps then got gavin brown to kick balls to him on the lead where he kept pulling up and grabbing his groin... didnt look good at all...
Medhurst trained but but at the end they were going in groups of 4 and running a full lap of the oval he looked horrible... he was overtaken by the group that started 15-20 secs after him and at the end looked spent... i mean badly spent but his preperation is limited so at least he is training now and is probably behind everyone else... lets hope he catches up quick!
Luke Ball looks like a machine and did everything and looked great when running...
Dawes looked good with his disposal in the drills and also runs so well for a big man... bit of a nasty streak and he could go pretty well...
Bucks took a group of mids for a drill where they put the ball on the ground and one shepards as the other tries to get to the ball... Bucks went against Barham and they really got stuck in... while corrie went against ball and blair and got throw around like a rag doll... he was really soft and dissapointing... pendles shaw and maccafer looked good in this giving there all in the heat...
Harry O'Brian looks a million bucks... great shape, runs like the wind kicks well... he will be an AA half back in the next few years and hopfully in our leadership group soon... he is a great example...
Everything Tarks did revolved around the forwards drills so he will play forward again.
Thomas looks a fair way of midfeild but thats only me judging his running against ball pendles ect... he looked to struggle a little...
Jolly is BIG!!! and runs really well for a unit that big!
They also did some work moving the ball through traffic and they looked really sharp... dawes moved well and goldy was his evasive best as was leon and ball, shaw, maccafer... corrie stuffed it twice though!!!
Beams and leigh brown left really early and only did laps and cloke and fraser hardly moved.. also didnt see shae and a few of the young kids in blight ect but thats obviously a managment thing.

Seeing as Shae-Mac tweeted from his Rookie day at the AFLPA, you'd guess that's where the other younger recruits were as well.

ahhh shit, not good news on jack, and terrible news on meddy, is this the end of medhurst:(, Luke Ball like a machine makes me excited, good news on Jolly and also my fave Harry.:thumbsu:

I'm worried about Jack however it is still early days and if he is training at all then his groin must not be too bad.

Medhurst is obviously quite unfit at this stage. As long as his ankles are now better he should be able to hit the track a bit harder. There is still over a month before NAB cup and two and a half months until the actual season so plenty of time to get things right although not ideal.

yeah doesn't sound great for Jack but I wouldn't panick just yet it's only a opinion of one person. We really can't afford him to get injured during pre-season then Dawes would really need to stand up but might also create a really good chance for Dawes.

No alarm bells whatsoever in regards to Jack and Medders.

Jack and Medders must both still be sore and are on modified programs from post-season surgery.

They have taken part in most training drills (except for the trip to Arizona).

Both will be fine for season 2010.

Yes.... Also, you better not go outside... The sky is falling!!

Anthony is a bit of a concern - hopefully just a slight groin problem and not osteitis.

Medhurst is a worry as well, but we do have a player capable of replacing him in Maccaffer to soften the blow. Having said that, a fit and firing Medders is critical to our flag chances.

Thanks for the heads up.

How will I get home from work though?

Underground tunnels?:p:p

Jack just seems to be struggling a little bit after probably having off season surgery.

Medhurst behind the pack is expected, as he definitely had post season surgery after really struggling in September, even at VFL level.

Nothing too alarming there, considering we are still more then 2 months from the "real stuff" starting (I'm not counting the NAB/Wizard/Foster's Cup).

Why would JAck be running laps & going on strong leads with Browny kicking at him, if he was injured?

Have any of you ever played footy before, seriously? Well you often have muscle soreness after certain training sessions & there is no way knowing that JA would be doing anysort of running if he was injured.

Just like Cloke & Fraser, they arent actually injured, but need to be treated in a way so that they dont re injure themselves.

The fact that JA was holding his groin means very little, otherwise he wouldnt be out there!

Medders however is a concern, but maybe he just doesnt like the heat. Its not uncommon for certain athletes to struggle more than others in the heat, I know I sure did. Other teammates would beat me in the heat, when otherwise I would be ahead of them.

.

Why would Jack not be joining in full training if he WASN'T injured? Sure the degree of the injury may be debated, but it does appear that he is hampered by something at least....

And yes, I have played football before. And other sports.

Anthony, John – trained alone in the 50 arc, ran laps, looked good. Needs more chest definition
Ball, Luke – excellent trainer. At one stage was pulled aside by Bux to show Corrie how to go harder in the pack using head and shoulders (as opposed to Corrie’s knees)
Barham, Jaxson – very good trainer. Disposal looked to have improved. Here’s hoping.
Beams, Dayne – ripping form
Brown, Leigh – ran laps with Beams and never lost touch. Looked good
Brown, Nathan. – physically imposing, great runner, saw a couple of up and under kicks that I didn’t like
Buckley, Simon – ripping form, stood out like dogs balls. Great physique and led the way in 200m sprints. Had a very, very good feeling with this guy
Cloke, Travis – bandaged knee, ran laps with Josh. Not an overly intense work out
Cook, Ryan – trained as he plays. Lot’s of good hard running only to undo with turnovers
Corrie, Anthony – Good runner and quick. Bux nailed him working one on one with Ball
Davis, Leon – explosive pace seems back. Got crunched in the middle but did enough during the session.
Dawes, Chris – led the way in 200m sprints. Looked very good.
Dick, Brad – walked up and down the boundary before returning indoors
Didak, Alan – did not see
Fraser, Josh – ran laps, not an overly intense workout before heading indoors
Goldsack, Tyson – quick and composed. Trained well
Johnson, Ben – not happy with him. Slow, looks dejected or injured. Trailed from start to finish. Skin folds not as good as others competing for same spot. And still has a shit kick.
Jolly, Darren – good but not too intense given heat conditions. Wood stands taller when rucking with Jolly
Lockyer, Tarkyn – great trainer and sets a great example
Macaffer, Brent – ripping form
McCarthy, John – trained OK without being a standout
Maxwell, Nick – did not see
Medhurst, Paul – was always lagging 10m behind in the 200m sprints but hard at it during midfield drills.
O'Bree, Shane – ran hard, great hands, terrible, terrible kicking today
O'Brien, Harry – ripping form. Absolutely busting.
Pendlebury, Scott – very good and very measured. Did enough.
Prestigiacomo, Simon – did not see
Reid, Ben – looks good and stronger than last season. At one stage, burnt off opponent from backline to wing, won the loose ball and delivered beautifully into fwd line
Rounds, Luke – trained well without setting the world alight
Rusling, Sean – ripping form
Shaw, Heath – ripping form, could be next CFC captain if conquers his ADD. Marshaled everyone and led from the front.
Sidebottom, Steele – saw for a few minutes and then left
Sinclair, Ben – did not see
Swan, Dane – looks red hot, trained very well.
Thomas, Dale – trained his backside off. Bux pulled him aside and told him to take a few seconds to read the play before running like a madman.
Thomas, Josh – didn’t see
Toovey, Alan – looks stronger and was fit.
Wellingham, Sharrod – did ok, not a standout but is freaking fast when he puts the foot down
Wood, Cameron – Lots of vigour in the midfield drills, lagged in the sprints which is expected for the big men.
Blair, Jarryd – very solid, tough and looks like he wants to be there

By the way - Nathan Buckley is a freak. Did the sprint work and led the way. Wasn't sure if this was a poor reflection on the group or merely how good this leader really is. He along with Simon Buckley, Harry and Caff look like animals. Unbelievable physiques and running power.
