Lol, jesus it aint the end of the world.

Although it's close.

Lol - but it'd clearly be devastating for him! And after seeing my brother's girlfriend go through a knee reconstruction and all the physio, it's not a lot of fun!

Well, ventured to training this morning. I'll leave Otten discussion to other thread but it really did sour the whole session as a Crows fan (probably the whole pre-season tbh:mad::()

Other notable points...

- Talia is well built and athletic. Given Otten's injury i wouldn't be surprised to see him get a few games in latter half of season. Having said that he didn't participate in full training so cannot comment on skills etc.

- Griffin won the heavyweight wrestling division at the end of training:eek: Looked really good in general training as well. Let's be honest, his physique is no longer a reason not to prosper in AFL...it's his competitiveness. That question wont be answered in pre-season training.

- Can confirm Jacky is much bigger. Now just needs to tone up again after bulk-up phase...will be a great specimen after pre-season. Trained very well including one screamer!

- Moran trained with injured group...dunno what he has done. Needs to show more resilience re injury this season. Thompson and Porps also not in main group. Davis just did running.

- Shaw fitted in nicely and looked to belong. Nice kick. Very skinny though so be a huge long shot for AFL this year.

- Riley looks a real goer...Shirley the 2nd.

- Sellar looking fit and confident. Certainly belongs out there. Great size and trained as a defender today (though given Bock and Rutten's absence that's no surprise).

- Douglas as always looked a million bucks at training, though beaten on occassion in 1 on 1's by younger blokes. Surely will struggle for the 22 this year.

- Cook an explosive athlete. Trapped the normally evasive Edwards into a corner and laid a bruising tackle. Foot skills looked ok today as well. Wouldn't be surprised to see him make a real impact this year, along with Sloane who also looked great.

- Walker looking a real brute. Big, strong but also fit and agile...no reason he shouldn't be a 40+ season. Very excited about his prospects this year:thumbsu:

Glad to hear Riley is with the group now :thumbsu: Welcome to the AFC, Aiden!

Kudos for the report when you really wouldn't have felt like providing one.
Most of my report comes pre knowing about the injury, after the injury you can see the details lessen.:(

Cheers for the report mate, much more detailed than mine!:thumbsu: I didn't see the screamer, when was it?!

when they were playing a scratch match type thing just going up and down the corridor.

Sellar looked good in this, played on Tippett and out marked him on one occasion and got plenty of the ball when it was rebounded back out. Twice his handball was smothered by Tippett on the mark but he made amends quickly.

McKernan looks really good on the lead, very strong and sticky hands.

I didnt see Otten go down as I left before, shattering news. Hopefully Davis can have a big pre season and take that spot.

I am a long time lurker, first time poster.

I went to the training session and noticed a few things that I thought I should post.

VB and Thompson both came out a little late together, just did handballs on the side. Not sure what was wrong with Thompson.

I thought that Griffin looked impressive, seemed to work hard- particular to get one-twos going.

Jacky looks huge. Took a great mark.

Doughty- hand injury??? sorry if this has been mentioned.

Talia is built for his age. Looked like a second (or maybe a third) year player in terms of size. He did a lot of running. At one stage near the end he went past me and said that that(sic) today was the most running he had ever done in a training session- it looked like it too, he was stuffed.

In fact all the draftees looked stuff. At one point (about 15 from the end) I saw them coming around AAMI from a run. The boys looked hammered.

One of the younger players ( not sure who) seemed to do a slight hamstring "strain" (kept grabbing at it- not sure if it was anything serious).

As to Ottens, I saw it happen. It was in a match simulation exercise, he received the ball (from kick or handpass-not sure) went to play on and turn to his left to sidestep a player and then just fell to the ground. It did not look like much but everything stopped, stretcher came out in a hurry and he was driven away. Later on asked Charlie Walsh (I think) how Ottens was and he just shook his head.

On a brighter note, Walker was, I think, super impressive. Very good defensive pressure and chasing, but what impressed me was his leading and ball use. He laid off some excellent passes, seemed to really sum up the situation well when he had the ball and he was double, and at times triple, leading for the ball.

nice that he's trying to prove me wrong and is actually doing what I wanted of him :thumbsu:

Brian Donnelly! How unfit can a professional AFL footballer be. Talia run circles around him this morning. Even I could out run him. He really needs to lift his work ethic.

I noticed that in the monday session I think it was. Henderson killed him when they were running laps.

Welcome aboard, and thanks for posting the training info. Very much appreciated by those of us who can't get to trainings!

i noticed this in the photos that have been posted on the AFC website / facebook. it looks as though he has a wrist guard on. not sure what happened

Another thing from the AFC photos: Walker has bulked up a lot, looks like an AFL player now. Expecting big things from him this year.

If this is the result of Craig not selecting him at times throughout 2009, and making him 'earn it' - then i think its paid off. He obviously has a great attitude, and instead of dropping his head and sulking about it, he's gone away and put in a lot of hard work.

thanks again for your comments Sidekul

Thanks mate.:thumbsu: Sellar was definetley the one who impressed me the most, moves unbelievably well for his size, he can really cement a spot in the side this year if he keeps this up!

We've been spoiled, as usual :thumbsu: Five or so people posting training reports is phenominal for one day, including a first-time poster :thumbsu:

Appreciate it everyone!
No worries Stabby!:thumbsu: It was amazing at how many people rocked up to training today, really awesome to see.:)
