Overcast conditions confronted the Collingwood team as they trained on Gosch’s Paddock on Monday 15 December.

The team worked through four main drills, which lasted for over two hours.

After a warm-up lap around the ground, the team spread across the pitch and worked on short 20 metre passes.

Experience came to the forefront during this drill with the "veterans" kicking the ball with speed.

Leon Davis was passing the ball with low, quick stabs hitting his teammate on the chest.

Jarrad Blight focused on accuracy over speed and favoured kicking the ball slightly higher than Davis and a few of the older players.

After 20 minutes the team sectioned off into five groups and worked on kicking the ball to advantage to a player running on an angle towards the wing.

The entire playing group then worked on a handball drill with four offensive players moving the ball down the line against three defenders.

The session ended with a full field training drill with various players working on specific aspects of their game.

Anthony Corrie practiced his tagging skills against one of the competition’s best, Dane Swan.

Harry O’Brien had the task of taking Brent Macaffer in the forward line. Macaffer kicked a goal from set shot from 50 metres on a 35 degree angle.

Brad Dick tested out his knee by providing stifling pace through the midfield.

The training session almost mirrored the regular season after John Anthony kicked true from 45 metres out slightly inside the boundary line.

Former Magpie Toby Thoolen, Bryce Carrol (Western Jets) and Michael Gugliotta (Northern Territory) continued to train with the team ahead of Tuesday's AFL Pre-Season Draft and AFL Rookie Draft.

John Anthony was in superb form up forward while Bryce Carrol tried to impress the coaches for the final time.

God Blight sounds like R Shaw:eek:

What why?

he concentrated on accuracy, so he kicked higher so what they hit the target didnt they?
I was joking, Glad he is working on his Accuracy but Saying he kicked it over there heads make him sound like R Shaw;)

I kinda see him more like a half-back version of Dale Thomas in that his kicking may not be razor sharp, but he breaks the opposition structure by getting around an oppo player, carying it at pace and kicking very long generally to advantage.

Remarkably clean hands at ground level (won't pack himself under pressure like Rhyce) and has a superb hand ball.

Rhyce was handy; Blight will be tagged.

Figjam ive been to games where rhyce has been tagged....

DTM they said he gave the ball air not that he kicked over there heads

Interesting to see Corrie being used as a tagger. Wouldn't have picked that to happen, I wouldn't have thought he had the attributes. See how he goes I guess.

I'd love to see MacAffer with a spot in the forwardline. His set shot kicking rivals Anthony's imo. Never hurts to have a forward who'll kick the goal 8/10 times.

Did anyone happen to go?

yeah, i was unsure what 'stifling pace' meant. what is it like a sauna when dick has the ball or something?

Roocccccaaaa, go to Bayswater primary?

I can see the fellas in the commentary box steaming up the windows already...

Certainly did go to Bayswater Primary. I even have the centenary gold coin :thumbsu: But in the immortal words of Don Walker... "that was years ago..."

Yeah interesting and am guessing me might be used as a pitch hitter in different possies if that's the case. I would doubt he would be used full time as a tagger if he has good ball skills. Then again he might be tagging Swanny to get his fitness up :thumbsu: I guess we'll have to wait....

Used across half back still has to take a man

I think that's the real story here. I can see him fitting the bill.

Perhaps Malthouse was just showing Corrie how hard Dane Swan works in a match, the required fitness levels required to play in our midfield.

I wouldn't read too much into Corrie shadowing an opponent at training!

Rumour has it he'll be rotating into the forward line with Dawes going up back. Apparently big Trav needs a 'glove' to kick straight...
he was a gun chf as a forward;)

Actually, I think I've worked out what he was doing.

In order to stop forward, Presti has to think like a forward. I call it "Method Defending". After months of this role-playing, Presti will have all the forward tendencies down pat, and be even more effective than before at preventing these. Now that's dedication!

It could be that.

But he has jokingly told me if it wasnt for Frawley he would of been on gun FF with rocca at CHF lol.

He has made a decent full back though
