Well they made it onto the ground today. The official word is that they are not soft and won't train when it is raining but more to do with ground protection. At the moment if it is wet they cant be out on the ground in footy boots as it will chop the ground up too much with the grass cut short for cricket and to allow the summer grass to come through.
The usual suspects where in the mod group. Lucas , JJ and Hislop all still working up after their operations. Neagle who probaly won't train fully until after christmas break. Johns with a minor leg problem and Leroy who is still on a slightly modified program after his op.
It looks like spying is in vouge early this year as Matthew Campbell and Peter Dean where both having a look. Campbell was writing a few notes.Off the top of my head i cant recall if Campbell is working with another AFL club (im sure someone will ahve the answer) but Dean is now at the Bulldogs.
They didnt get to see a lot becasue as per what has been happening most of training was basic structured skills work working on various aspects like kicking , handball and a few decision making drills. No real match sim stuff happening.
Im not going to make too many comments on specific players as not a lot has changed and being November it is early. It has been suggested on BB that a few players are doing some extra sessions becasue their times are not where they need to be. 6am workouts have been put in place for a few if the rumours are correct. I dont know who they are and i havnt bothered going to WH at 6am to find out if there are any

Out of the rehab group JJ looks to be the one who may join regular training first. He has started to do some serious running and some agility work to test out his groin.
I havnt been taking a list and marking off the players so there could be players i have missed but i think everyone else apart from Dean Dick (must have some sort of niggle but i dont know what it is) where out on the track today and everything looks to be moving along ok. Darcy is now training fully with us.
The skills have looked very good so far. The training compared to last year seems a bit more focused. There are a lot of short sharp drills and the players are split into three groups at some stages working on different things. I suspect that Matty's attitude towards training as well as the players working hard to impress are responsible. The intesity level is certainly a little higher compared with previous years.
Well thats about as interesting as i can make a pre season training report for today. The next edition should be on Wednesday next week if it isnt raining.
