He was pretty proppy. Ran for about 15 mins. Then finished up. Then was in the ground as they worked on his knee. Looked exhausted running. If say he is a week or so away

He didn’t look great, straight line running, and no twisting and turning or lateral work. And we didn’t need to see him on the ground for so long getting his knee worked on - was very anxiety inducing.☹️

The collective opinion of fans near me? Doubt we’ll see Nick on Thursday night.

Darcy on the other hand was not inhibited at all.

Young woman next to me was wearing a beautiful scarf which she’d been making for the finals. Embroidered too! She got lots of compliments and apparently a few offers to buy.

He is an article in this afternoon's Herald Sun. Based on your training reports it appears click bait

Nick Daicos was supposed to be just jogging at Collingwood’s training session on Sunday, but when he broke into a sprint, it had his brother Josh suggesting he could be fit to face the Demons.

Nick Daicos’s brother has breathed fresh hope into the All-Australian and Brownlow Medal favourite making a shock return in Thursday night’s blockbuster against Melbourne.

Collingwood football boss Graham Wright cast significant doubt over Daicos playing in the qualifying final on the eve of the final home-and-away round with the expectation that he would not resume running for another 7-10 days.

But Daicos was sighted running away from the main group at Sunday’s open training that was attended by thousands of diehard Magpies supporters.

“I think he was just meant to be jogging – but he picked up to a little sprint to show he might be right for Thursday night,” teammate and brother Josh Daicos said on Sunday.

“It’s so good for him to just be out back with the group.

“Obviously it’s pretty tough being injured and you don’t feel part of it, but we appreciate his support throughout the time and we can’t wait to have him back.”

While the return of Daicos against the Demons would still be a surprise there is renewed hope that arguably football’s most professional youngster can overcome a hairline fracture in his right leg.

Coach Craig McRae has repeatedly refused to put a ceiling on when Daicos could return.

The Magpies are set to welcome back captain Darcy Moore, fellow defender Nathan Murphy and pressure forward Beau McCreery against the Demons.

The winner of the opening match of the finals is guaranteed to play their entire September campaign at the MCG.

Which games were these?

Anzac Day and the SF against Freo, yes.

I don't recall him putting in a 15 possie, 3 goal game against a top 4 side that.

He's got match winning capabilities but let's not pretend he's torn apart Melbourne, Brisbane etc.
Ginnivan is a clever forward who is capable of kicking two goals against any defense in the league if given good opportunities.

He definitely looks to be favouring that knee, even when he is walking, but still good to see him doing some running, eventhough it looks more of a casual jog.
Hopefully we win Thursday night, and given him the additional week to get that knee right.

I suspect Josh may just be playing some smoke and shadows behind the windows here

Sunday September 3rd. Open training ( I always find this term "Open" funny, given its always open -- just a promotional aspect)

It was only the AFL squad in contention for this week out there... no surprise given the VFL game yesterday, we can't expect those boys to be training already. They should be back on track on Tuesday.

This squad was:

  • Lippa
  • JDG
  • IQ
  • Maynard
  • Elliott
  • Mitchell
  • JDaicos
  • Noble
  • Pendles
  • McStay
  • Adams
  • Cameron
  • Frampton
  • Sidebottom
  • Hill
  • Crisp
  • Murphy
  • Moore
  • McCreery
  • WHE
  • Ginni
  • Markov
  • Howe
  • Mihocek
  • Cox

Ryan and Carmy were also on track. Carmy doing running session as he goes through the concussion protocols, Ryan full non contact training with the blue cap on. But he should be back in full training next week.

Nick did his first running session. Straight lines only. For about 15-20 mins, Had some work done on his leg/knee, then eased off after that. Good to see he has started running, but he is certainly not getting up to play in 4 days lol
They've now ruled him out. But are confident he'll be right for the 2nd final.

The session only went for an hour, probably since they did a big session on Thur, and main session is this coming Tuesday. But they focused on transition, attack and defence. And some match play.
Also some fight drills. 1v1 with the talls, small forwards v small defenders, and the mids together.
Post the session some boys (Ginni. Beau. Jamie. Hill) did some goal kicking from the pocket.

After the boys went inside, the crowd went onto the ground. I couldn't tell what was going on at least, the speakers echos so the announcements I couldn't understand, so everyone went closer to the balcony where Fly made a speech. He mentioned they have a side by side flag with all the years we let the premiership slide on the banner, and this banner will be hung outside the AIA centre, then given to the cheer squad on game day.
He said, we are going to war.
