Those ‘obvious reasons’ are exactly why you should get off his f***en back mate.
It’s also more the cumulative effect of cunners never coming back early to training to set an example that is why I’m on his back about this

Coupled with his fitness always being poor when he does come back

Maybe what he has done in the past of going away fishing coming back on time instead of early is not the way to go to improve one of his few weaknesses

This is categorically untrue. Excluding the years he was recovering from testicular cancer tell me when he’s come back unfit? He is always ready to go from round 1.

From 2012 - 2019 he has played a minimum of 20 games a year, they are not the stats of someone whose fitness is poor at the start of preseason in fact it’s quite the opposite his fitness is elite because it enables him to play a full season of football and finals (when we were in them).

Your obsession with him coming back early is unhealthy, let it go.

If Cunners never comes back early, then I’m happy for him to not come back early again this year… seems to have worked well for him so far!

His lank of a tank has always been an issue

His one weakness
He’s not an endurance athlete and never will be. Coming back early to preseason in his 14th year isn’t going to magically turn him into a marathon runner, just accept him for who he is a bloody good inside mid.

Well I’d still rather him come back early than not to improve it even 1% more

He has never been an aerobic beast and never will be. At his age, coming back 3 or 4 weeks early is not going to improve his tank.
You are seriously the most obstinate poster on the forum.
Give this one up and move on

Maybe he should have come back early in his earlier seasons then

If you want to use that argument

TZ, mate, players still train when away from the club, we just don't get as many shirtless vanity shots if they're doing the hard yards on their lonesome. You know this. We have no idea how much training he, or any other player, is doing... and that includes the ones turning up to the club right now or posting on their socials about the gym's they're attending!

Just be happy that Cunners is healthy and cross your fingers he has a return to form.

He may have done so. Just after getting drafted he and Ziebell were called out for their lack of endurance. Since then Cunners has become our premier mid - our only elite mid in the team besides Swallow temporarily and Wells inconsistently.

He has runs on the board and leads by example on the field. I reckon you should trust that he is doing the right thing for himself and North.

I think every player should be going above and beyond to improve weaknesses for him it’s stamina. You don’t get a free pass to doing extras cos you are a good player.

And as a senior player I do like those that come back early and set an example

Ziebs, Jy, Hugh, kayne, lmac all have done that this preseason

I think speculating on why players are or are not at training is pointless.

Every player would have their own programs depending on age, previous injuries etc etc.

If come January a player is clearly out of shape sure, raise it as to why, but not this early.

Just imo.

Would assume Kayne and J walker for 2 of the 4 rookie spots

The other 2 for either senior players we move there (Mahony/spicer) or ex afl players Stocker/Ronke/stack types
Should know by the 15th is that right about if we plan to put any player to rookie list

So I watched this like 10 times and still not sure if it was our boy or their boy that won that sprint.

Hoping it was Ben……
I watched it ten times too and my gosh the running and landing mechanics is so different. Harry’s landing and hip stability and drive is ridiculous compared to ben’s

Happy was working with the same guy Chaz Lazz was last off season, some sprinting coach. IIRC.

Dunno about Ben tho.
